Anyone catch the blurb on Drew Brees on NFL today just now? They were interviewing Sean Peyton about why they chose Drew Brees out of the FA's available and he said because he knew the guy had the best character and the best work ethic and they knew he would finish his rehab the right way.

It almost seemed as if he was saying he knew Daunte wouldn't properly rehab the way he was talking but I don't know I could be reading too much into it.

Did anyone else see it? What did you think?

yea I think u are reading too much into it. I mean Pep wasn't a FA to begin with, and I don't think the Saints were eyeing him anyways in a trade. He probably just felt Brees was worth the gamble and that he would heal up and be ready in time. And so far, it looks like they were right.

Yea, your probably right. I forgot Daunte wasn't a FA for a sec there.

i heard it 2. it hink it was a shot at dc, no he wasnt a fa but he was on the trading block. there may be more to that remark than we know. he may have even had an interview with dc. but i think it was a shot

What he should have said was, "I'm really glad Nick Saban wasn't willing to give up the money for Brees enabling me to bring him to New Orleans." We all know Brees was Miami's for the taking.

That's totally true. However, I remember at that time being more concerned with Brees's throwing shoulder injury, hind sight is always 20/20. In truth, I think we'll have to wait until the end of next season to truly evaluate Duante...

In hindsight, Pep was a mistake. It's just like poker. You gamble. Payton ended up with a full house and we got a high card of 8.

I guess my question would be, why would he give a crap what is going on with DC? Do they have some sort of history? If they don't then I would say it had nothing to do with DC.

he is obviously right wouldnt you say?

who is leading his team on to the play offs with big numbers
and who is benched with a different excuse as to why?

which guy has been sacked the most in the nfl and hasnt
even played in 2 weeks?

it aint drew!!!

as usual, miami picked the bum.

I wouldn't really call Culpepper a mistake just yet.

Remember, part of the reason that Culpepper didn't endear himself to Childress was because they didn't like his rehab program and where he was rehabbing.

Also, Peyton went after Drew Brees hard because his former boss, Bill Parcells, highly recommended he go and get him.

a mistake ??? how much did you expect from him the first half of this season.... some would say we got more than we would have expected from Daunte so far... besides if you think about it theres gunna be another football season next year and every year after that, I'm pretty sure we intend on using Cpep and all our other players for more than one year. A mistake ??? Was drafting Reggie Bush at #2 a mistake cuz he cant carry for more than 30 yards a game ? Was trading for Hasselbeck a mistake cuz he stunk for a few years ?
