[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Utah Pro Day...Twenty-one NFL teams including Carolina Panthers DC Ron Meeks was among the attendees, as well as defensive backfield coaches from the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions and a defensive line coach from the Seattle Seahawks...CB Brice McCain stole the show with his 40-yard dash times, which were faster than any cornerback at the NFL combine...McCain, 5-9, 181 pounds, ran times of 4.33 and 4.34 in the 40,

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]had a 36 1/2-inch vertical, a 10-foot-3 broad jump, and looked very good in position drills...CB Sean Smith ran the 40 in 4.47 and 4.49, had a 32-inch vertical, and a 9-5 broad jump...DE Paul Kruger, 6-4.4, 260 pounds, ran 40 times of 4.80 and 4.79, had a 32-inch vertical, a 9-1 broad jump, and did 22 repetitions of 225 pounds. that broad jump and verticle jump are dissapointing, I don't know what to think about him now

I am still very high on,

1. Michael Johnson olb. Pro Day 4.59 40 yard dash is outstanding for a 6´7, 266 pound outside linebacker.

2a. Sean Smith cb. he has height and speed, that you can´t teach.

2b. Kenny Britt wr. no comment!

3. Evander Hood nt. put 15 pounds on him and watch him grow.

that would be my dream draft.

for smith, a 32 inch vert on a guy 6'3 is not too bad. also, i think his forty makes up for his broad jump.

And of course Jarron Gilbert de. Great player and would help us to get over Vonnie.

brice is a poor mans alphonso smith..

I'd be happy with him in the 5th-7th rounds

How many broad jumps will he do in an average game?

Pro days are way over rated. How many times during a game does a guy get to stand perfectly still and jump straight in the air? Broad jump? Sprint 40 yards straight from a sprinters stance? Belt out 225 lbs on the bench? NEVER! Lots of guys play faster than their 40 times. Players train daily for these specific drills to make their numbers look better. Heck, I saw something on NFL Network that was coaching players on how to take the wonderlic so they wont get low scores. Jerry Rice didn't have a great 40 time, but he turned out pretty good huh? Dan Marino reportedly bombed the wonderlic, but we are all pretty happy the Fins drafted him. I am not saying that pro days are totally useless, obviously they are not or no coaches or scouts would go, and their are probably lots of little things that scouts do look for that we don't even know about but I think too many players rise and fall based on it. If they stood out on tape, I think that means more then how they looked in shorts.

well isnt the broad jump to show explosiveness? not how many he will do in games.

It is, but you can watch his more immediate explosion either on tape or in the vertical. How a corner explodes in the broad jump is of nominal value.
