Hi im new here, but ive been reading for a couple of weeks.

I was just wondering if anyone else thinks that Sean Smith stripped the ball out of Braylon Edwards' hands on his touchdown catch when they stood him up at the goal line. I immediately thought that the ball never crossed the plane in Edwards' hands and when it finally did cross it was in Smith's chest. So did we get robbed again or not?

it was a TD....

the ball crossed the goaline, while in Edwards possession, but it was close.....

I thought it was a lot closer than they made it seem.
But Edwards is a number 1. Thats a play a number 1 wr makes

The ball definitely crossed the line when the Jets player came over and pushed the pile forward...but I do believe that Edwards knee was down before that.

I disagree. Sean Smith did not gain total possession of the ball until after it crossed the goal line. During the time they both have possession, the rule is that the offensive player still technically has it. If that play happened outside of the goal line, like around the 20-yard line, then I think we may have a case, but once the ball crosses the plane, the play is over.

Smith did not gain complete control until after Edwards crossed the imaginary plane. Close but no cigar. I love the fight the rookie put up though.

yeah, everyone was so concentrated at looking at the ball, no one looked at edwards knee.

So Edwards' didnt need to retain complete possesion of the ball for it to be ruled a touchdown?... Because I definately thought they shared control going into the endzone.

the back of edwards hand was on sean smiths chest and his fingers were wrapped around the ball when smith was in the end zone on his back. it was really hard to see but it looks like smith has 3 hands on the ball.

If they share while going into endzone, by rule, it is the offensive player's possession. For a defensive player to be awarded possession he must show complete possession of the ball.
