According to the Dolphins and the Local News we are at roughly 60,000 season tickets sold. For those of you unable to do the math thats 80% stadium capacity from the local market.

For those unaware Green bay only sells 28K season tickets (you can add 4K reserved for the local county if you wish, still only about half of what we have). Hence the long waiting lists.

If I remember correctly 85% is a tv sell out capacity which is 3,750 more people, even if its 90% thats still less the 8K people. The stadium is indeed full, the fans are coming out, and things are getting better, If I can only get the empty seat threads to stop.

#8 and Saban are putting buts in the seats. I am making my annual trip again this year, hoping to see a win vs the cheifs.

The 28,000 refers to season ticket accounts -- most of which, I presume, involve multiple tickets.

It's good that more tickets are sold, but that doesn't mean all those people will show up. The band wagon jumpers and the "just want to be seen" or "say they were there" groups tend to show up in the 2nd qtr and leave in the 3rd.

I keep on hearing and reading that the ticket sales are increasing, but I have to admit it looked like the same old Dolphin turnout at the first pre-season game. What really surprised me is that we sold that game out, but we had over 10k empty seats. I hope that's only because it was a preseason game, and the stadium will be at capacity in the regular season.

I dont think you can expect people to get excited about a preason game. The fact that the Phins have sold %80 of the stadium is amazing. fairweather fans arent going to make the investment of season tickets.
But buying tickets are like anything.. you want quality for your hard earned money. If you field a poor squad season ticket numbers will go down... in every sport and every market. Field a good team... good things will happen.. Just ask New Orleans, Just ask Arizona.

In Miami, fairweather fans cough up the money for season tickets all the time. It happened during previous Heat runs and when the Panthers were popular and those season tickets were much more expensive (b/c of the number of games) than Dolphin tickets.

People that buy tickets and find out that they cannot go, should either try to get someone to sell them (for cost, preferably) or better yet, just find out where the local high school is and give their tickets to a few high school football players. Gotta inspire the next generation of football players you know. They'll definitely go to the game and they'll probably yell their heads off and get everyone fired up.

Just a quick update, I called Dolphins and emailed them to make sure I've been onthat list for lower bowl. I've been on it for 3 years at the end of this season and it is a 5 year waiting list to get down there. So I wait longer.. oh well.

its 28000 season ticket accounts...

btw...Entering 2006, Lambeau Field has been sold out on a season-ticket basis 45 straight years, for 345 consecutive non-strike games (70 preseason, 261 regular season and 14 postseason), beginning with the 1960 opener vs. the Chicago Bears.

Yeah, but what else is there to do in Green Bay? If I lived there I would go too even though I don't really care about the outcome...

Actually, this year you can now print and e-mail your tickets if you arent going to use them up until an hour before the game or something like that.

So that should help that situation....

Well, bandwagon fans are inevitable unfortunately. I mean, about 200 people used to go to the games at Foxboro in the 80's and 90's (some even after the SB appearance). I dont think they knew they had a football team up until a few years ago...lol.

But seriously as long as the stadium is full, I'm for it. I'm just glad I got my season tix in lower level about 7 years ago. I've never giving them up!
