Seau signed

The Patriots announced the signing of linebacker Junior Seau today. The team also announced the signing of veteran tight end Chris Luzar and the release of tight end Walter Rasby.
The 37-year-old Seau has played in 230 games with 227 starts in his NFL career. Seau flew into town late last night and was present at Gillette Stadium today. He projects as an inside linebacker in the team's 3-4 defense.
The 27-year-old Luzar was a fourth-round draft choice of the Jaguars in 2002. The 6-foot-7, 262-pound target played in 23 games in two seasons with the Jaguars, catching four passes for 35 yards.
The 33-year-old Rasby had been signed by the Patriots on July 28.

Rumor has it Seau will spend the weekend debriefing with Bill Belichick. He is expected to diagram all Miami's schemes and have them ready for the Monday afternoons team meeting. Sorry dolphin fans its over before it even began... (J/K I couldn't resist throwing this short paragraph in for those conspiracy theroist.)

Great. This should open up alot of holes for Ronnie Brown. :D

Gee that made me think perhaps you guys should be looking at some decent back up for brown seeing if he should get hurt you'll have nobody decent to fill in. What do you suppose are the odds Ronnie can go the entire season without injury? I'm not a betting man but if I was I wouldn't put down much money on those odds.

Actually if Seau can stay healthy for 3 to 4 games into the season he will have done the job he was brought in to do. Then we'll have Bruschi back and Junior's role will diminish greatly.

We got a decent back up out of Sammy Morris. Ronnie Brown is entering his 2nd season, and is stronger and more ready now than he was last season. Usually, a running back coming out of the draft wouldn't get as many touches as he did last season, but he made it work, and it turned out fine. He's going through a FULL training camp, which is a plus, and is now in better shape than he was before.

What are the odd's that Tedy Bruschi will ever play a full season again? And when he does come back, what are the odds he will have an immediate impact on the team's defense (after missing a couple of practices to rehab his injury or what ever he has)?

I'm not a betting man, but if I was I wouldn't put down much money on those odds.

Unfortunately even players is the best physical shape get injuried. Touches full training camp strength etc. means nothing. One hit to the wrong area of the knee and it could season over. I think we both know that. Sammy who?

Tedy has a broken bone in his right wrist. Typical healing time is 6 weeks which would put us at week 3 for a return but this is if all goes "typically" well. Being as his injury last season was not a football related injury and this yrs wrist injury was I don't have the answer to that.
I do know that Running backs are some of the most often injuried players in the game today with the shortest NFL career shelf life.
You aren't really trying to compare the injury rates of a ILB to that of the starting RB now are you? Thats not even a close one to place odds on. :D

Sammy MORRIS... :D

You know, the guy who averaged 4.0 yards/carry behind the worst OL in the league and with Fiedler keeping the secondary honest...

I'm not worried...

Ok now i remember morris. He was a 3rd stringer on that power house of a bills team a few yrs back. Buy the way didn't he get released from that awful offense in buffalo?

4 yd/ carry average isn't hard to have when you only carried the ball 6 times. He was a Wanny pick up wasn't he? Look every team has a weak spot depth wise some place we have a weak area at ILB this season and you at RB nothing to get embarrassed about.

132 Times actually in 2004. Yes, he was picked up by Wanny... Probably one of his better selections...

Not embarrassed... I actually believe Sammy can pick it up if need be...

Alright, it might be true that if Ronnie went down that we would be in trouble. But even if he did we would still have a respectable offense with Chambers, McMichael, and Culpepper. Now can u tell me where your precious Patsies would be without Tom Brady? They would be stuck with a tired old RB, a rookie RB, some mediocre QBs and a degrading defense.

But thats what fooball is, its a game of chance and sometimes the odds are against you. If I was u I would stop worrying about your enemies and worry about your own damn team. Face the facts that your reign is over in the AFC East. My advice is to enjoy your great run while it lasted and sit back while the Fins reclaim their throne.

Good luck Jr.

I hope he does well and stays healthy.

I think he'll do ok but i think his role will be somewhat limited to what his role in Miami was. It don't matter who he plays for now or who Junior played for in the past he has always been a class act.
