NFL | Seau about to retire
Sun, 9 Jul 2006 08:35:43 -0700
Jeff Graham, writing for the Kitsap Sun, reports free agent LB Junior Seau (Dolphins) said he plans to hold a press conference within the next two weeks announcing his likely retirement. With the end of his career on the field drawing near, Seau sounded eager to continue his efforts in charity. "I'm blessed to be where I am," Seau said. "I've got a great opportunity to do some great things because of the game of football."
It's probably in his best interests to just retire anyways. He had a very good career, and is likely a first ballot HOF. He would only be hurting himself more if he played again. IMO he wouldn't have been able to stay healthy for a full year.

It's also in our best interest for him to retire.

Definitely a great career for Junior though, it's just his time...the HOF awaits him.

I am glad he has made the right decision. Its tough to hang them up after such a great career.

I wonder why the Chargers did not allow him to retire as a Charger ? IMO it would be the right thing to do.

Definetly the right thing to do. He doesn't need to add a third team to his resume. Honestly, he should have retired two seasons ago.

I'm sure S.D. will have him sign a one day contract and retire as a Charger. Glad he joined the Fins for 3 years, was nice to have him on the Fins.

Great guy. Was a pleasure to watch him play for us.

Good points...I think that Seau would make a great defensive coach one day. If he is officially retiring, I wish him well him his future endeavors...:cooldude:

Hopefully in the next few weeks they will offer him something just to make him a Charger. I would hope anyway...

Either way, a class act all the way around and I feel we were fortunate to have him on our team for a few years...

Good luck Junior!!!
