of attention this offseason. imo the secondary was a big weakness last year and I feel it is neccasary to shake it up a little bit but now its gonna be art work to rebuild. luckily i have much faith in saban in doing this. as of today our secondary looks very week. basically we have Travis Daniels,Travares Tillman, Yeremiah Bell, Will Poole, Shirdonya Mitchell that is on our roster that there is even talk about.
Poole looked solid his rookie season and was a good draft pick. Hopefully he can regain form cuz it would help us out tremedously.
Mitchell is a huge question mark but alot of talk goes around about him...but Im thinking if we ever get anything out of him it will take some time just like it did with Bell.
Daniels dont really need to be talked about cuz we no what we have there. solid #2 hopefully can elevate his game to #1.
Bell and Tillman our both solid players that are worth holding on to but competition will be nice.
Im not too sure what the status of players like Kiwaukee Thomas and Eddie Jackson are but the chances of them givin us anything but depth is unlikely. But they do give us nice depth if their kept around.
I would really like to bring Schulters back for some leadership.
Its gonna be key for us to get some players in hear that can play good defense. I would expect to see us sign some players that can provide leadership at the safety and cb position. As for the draft I can see us drafting 2 players for the secondary(1cb,1s) . Luckily for us the draft and free agency provide us with what where lookin. When its all said and done I would like to see our secondary looking something like this:
CB:
Travis Daniels
Vet FA
Will Poole
Mitchell or vet FA
Rookie(preferably day one)
S:
Schulters or possibly another vet S, but i would stick with lance.
Tillman
Bell
Rookie
Its also nice that Daniels can be considered a leader in the secondary since he knows what is asked of the position. He helped the secondary out alot last year.
