can we get some good commentary on how our secondary did against the jets. i missed most of the 1st half so i'd really like to hear what you guys have to say about how our secondary did in the 1st half.
during the 2nd half the jets looked to pass at ease but i wonder how much of that is a fault of the defensive line which seemed inept at generating pressure on the QB.
it's becoming more and more apparent to me that the dolphins defense is a defense geared to stop the run. the linebackers, dline and ends all play a reactionary type of defense where they stay put a little longer than most lines to get a better read on the runners. i think that hesitation is allowing the offensive lines we play against to get a better read on the defensive line's schemes. how the hell else are they pass protecting against this "stud" line??? on the other hand, we stop the run pretty good...our NT is a beast. failing to produce a pressure environment makes our secondary work that much harder. i see some pretty good coverage that gets beat anyway because QBs are able to place the ball in spots our CBs and safeties cannot get to. like sean smith and vontae davis always getting beat inside and underneath...their coverage has been pretty good during all those catches but the QB always has the time to place the ball just right.
defensively, i think right now our greatest weakness is our inability to consistently pressure the QB.
we need to learn from the success we had the 1st half against the saints and apply that to our games in the future.
