damnit! im gettin pissed off with our secondary i mean jason allen keeps getting burned and the other guys arent really starter quality except for will allen who ive been impressed with...it shows that we're missing travis daniels ALOT!...we need a veteran leader in our secondary i dont care if we have to give up a draft pick we need to get a decent db who can help our young guys does ne 1 agree with me?.....

(i dont think that we need jeff zgonina with the emergence of fred evans and our great DL) ..wat about trading him n a draft pick??..

I agree and I disagree,

First of all the Secondary requires cohesion, players need to trust each other, we have a whole new group of guys, and they need to Quickly go through that learning process.

I thought our first team looked ok against Tampa, and if I am not mistaken if Saban's secondary system is going to be similar to New Englands, it won't matter.

Bottom line is we have much Bigger, faster, and smarter guys that are going to be plugged in.

The key in the first 4 games will be if our front 7 can get pressure, if we can, we should be ok, if not, we could be in for a few shootouts.

Nice thing is that besides Pittsburgh we have some good matchups the first month.

So yes they need to improve, it will take time, but they will and hopefully Capers can come up with some exotic blitz packages to throw at opposing QB's especially while these guys get comfortable.

Breath man!!!

First off our first team secondary hasn't looked all that bad, and that's was without Travis Daniels. Jason Allen was rushed out there, and Saban expected him to make mistakes because he doesn't have a grasp of the scheme yet. It also gave Saban a chance to see where he's at on his development. By the way, minus one play Jason Allen played a very solid game against the Bucs, especially for someone who has only had a handful of practices and is learning 2 positions.

Most of the guys playing in the 3rd and fourth quarter will not be playing come week 1, and if they are they will be mixed with some quality players instead of a squad full of guys that are probably not going to make this team. The 2nd and 3rd team secondary looks bad also because instead of the starting front 7 who will force the qb to throw quick we have had guys that aren't getting pressure on the qb. It doesn't matter who is out there covering guys if you give the qb all day to throw someone will get open.

I do agree with the emergence of Evans, Zgonina will probably be traded for a late round pick or a player.

Capers will trust me on that. As alot of people around here have pointed out our D-line is going to make a huge differance in the passing game. Also I haven't seen many people mention Goodman but for some reason I see him starting even when Lehan and Daniels get back. It may just be I'm wrong but he seems to always be in position. W. Allen seems to keep improving. We'll see how the starters fare against what may be the best WR corp in football Thursday.

Stop bitching. Doesn't everyone realize we have just revamped our entire secondary. This is one of Sabans works in progress and so far Saban has gotten the job done.

Lets try to keep a positive attitude about the secondary, they are still learning one of the most complex defenses in the game.

PATIENCE!

even if it were possible, that veteraan leader couldn't come in right away and help, he wouldn't know the defense. And zgonina has no trade value...at all...whatsoever...

Our secondary will be fine. sheesh.

I would have to dissagree with you that Zgonina has no trade value, and so would Drew Rosenhaus who recently said he will probably be traded by the Dolphins. I wouldn't expect much more than a 6th rd pick for him but it looks as if he does have trade value.

hes a 34 year old dtackle who isn't starting. We got Joey for a 6th, i shutter to think that they have the same trade value. Though i've been wrong before.

I'm hoping that these long TD passes are the result of poor execution in the secondary, rather than just flat out poor talent....

I also think Capers / Saban aren't going to want to show their "true defensive hand" during the the pre-season. I'm sure once the season starts, we're going to see all kinds of different formations / schemes that we're not seeing right now. It's that time of year where the game plans {on both sides of the ball}are all toned down, and many are stripped from the playbook because the coaches simply don't want to unmask them....

There's really no excuse for giving up the kind of TD's our secondary has been showing tendencies of doing, but at the same time, the pass rush is also somewhat responsible. Once our DL is playing at full speed / during the regular season, it could be alot different for the secondary back there, and that's what I'm expecting to see....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

These aren't my words only, they are also the words of one of the top agents in Football that's saying it. Remember it was only last year that St. Louis was talking to us about trading him to them. Check what Drew Rosenhous says for yourself.
