First off, meet Selwyn Lymon, 6'4, 215 lb...runs a 4.4 (think Limas Sweed but faster)

With lack of depth at the WR position (fan favorite Kerry Reed is gone)..

So I THINK were pretty much down to ...
-Ginn
-Wilford
-Hagan (if he cant catch in camp, hes a goner)
-Tab Perry (most likely lock to be a special teamer)
-Camarillo (if he makes this team, its as a special teamer)
-David Kirkus (if he makes this team, its as a special Teamer)
-Davone Bess (has the possibility of anything from slot reciever to being cut, although probably too small to be much help in the special teams dept.)

So if you ask me, any UFA WR that gets picked up, has a legit shot to make the final 53 man roster...With that said, I decided to do my research on Selwyn Lymon, the WR we signed from Purdue...I'll start by wowing you with this one...
His third game of his college career EVER, playing AT Notre Dame (when they were still good- this was in 2006) Lymon caught 8 balls for a whopping 238 recieving yards and 2 TDs.. with an 88 yard catch!!! The guy has phenomonal speed and stands tall at 6'4
He was rated the number 7 WR coming out of HS in 2005, this while playing QB as well.. Rated the number 1 WR coming out of the state of Indiana...Turned down scholarship offers to Ohio State and Michigan

Okay so now that Ive told u all of that, heres the bad news... the guy is a huge punk, or so Ive read and has been kicked off the Purdue football team in 2007 soooooo if Parcells can get this guy controlled ala Terrell Owens, "Meshawn" Johnson, we may have found a great steal.... OR I could be dreaming... Either way, with 7 WRs on the roster, and maybe 2 of those being locks to make this team, Dolphins could sign you, yes you the reader, and you'd have a big shot to make the team...sad

Position: WR
Class:So
School: Purdue
Conference: Big Ten
Ht., Wt.: 6-3, 210
40 Time:4.72

Found this at: http://images.cnnsi.com/football/2008/draft/players/17940.html
Looks like his 40 time is only 4.72 Out of high school he was clocked much faster. Interesting pick up nonetheless.

BIOGRAPHY: Two-year starter who totaled 40/450/2 in twelve games last season after 33/580/3 as a sophomore. Dismissed from the Purdue program after being charged with drunk driving twice last year.
POSITIVES: Nice sized pass catcher who flashes the ability to be a game controlling receiver. Effectively uses the sidelines, comes back to the ball and makes himself an available target. Plays with good body control nicely adjusting to the errant throw, extends his hands and catches the pass away from his frame. Shows the ability to physically defeat opponents.
NEGATIVES: Lazily comes off the line, unnecessarily lets the pass get inside him and loses focus and concentration which results and dropped passes. Rounds off routes and displays minimal speed to his game.
ANALYSIS: Lymon offers possibilities as a possession receiver at the next level. His serious off the field and infractions will make teams think twice before inviting him to camp this summer.
PROJECTION: Late Second Round

Guy doesn't seem to have any drive or heart, plus he's a head case. Thanks, but I'll take Bess as our slot and Wilford as our big dude.

He apparently lost some speed because his best time recorded recently was 4.59. I remember him from watching the Purdue Georgia game. I think he was a freshman. Looked good.

I saw a lot of Purdue games and this kid was impressive at times. BUT too many games where he disappeared. Should be more physical but from what I saw did not play to his size. If we wanted someone from Purdue the Dorian Bryant kid that went to Pittsburgh would have made more sense - that kid's a player.
