MOBILE, Ala. -- Charlie Whitehurst's passing, Michael Robinson's running and Daniel Bullocks' alert special teams plays sent the North to a 31-14 victory over the South in the Senior Bowl on Saturday.

The showcase game for senior NFL prospects didn't include many highlights for the most heralded offensive stars. There were an array of errant passes and few big plays.

But Robinson displayed the running ability that could bode well for a possible position move after a dazzling season at quarterback for Penn State. He led two touchdown drives with his legs, not his arm, and gained 63 yards on nine carries despite a sack.

Whitehurst, the North's offensive MVP, directed a seamless drive after Vanderbilt's Jay Cutler was ineffective on the first two series. The Clemson quarterback was perfect on five attempts for 66 yards, lofting a 15-yard scoring pass to Colorado tight end Joe Klopfenstein and finishing 7-of-9 for 90 yards.

Besides Whitehurst, none of the quarterbacks found any consistent rhythm.

Nebraska's Bullocks recovered two muffed punts, grabbing one in the end zone for a score and setting up the final touchdown with the other in the fourth quarter.

It was a mostly quiet day for two of the top offensive NFL prospects, Cutler and Memphis tailback DeAngelo Williams. Cutler was just 6-of-19 for 69 yards and was intercepted in the end zone by Cedric Griffin of Texas to end the game's opening drive. Cutler did complete a 7-yard TD pass to Arizona State's Derek Hagan with 6:12 left after Bullocks' second fumble recovery.

Williams played sparingly but effectively with three carries for 31 yards. He also took a screen pass 28 yards in the fourth quarter and was the South's offensive MVP.

The overall MVP was Miami receiver Sinorice Moss of the South, who had three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown. He also ran 27 yards on a reverse and recovered a fumble.

The defensive MVPs were Georgia Tech's Gerris Wilkinson (South) and Penn State's Tamba Hali (North).

The game's two in-state quarterback products both threw touchdown passes for the South. UAB's Darrell Hackney hit a wide-open Devin Aromashodu of Auburn in the left corner of the end zone for a 17-yard score early in the fourth and Alabama's Brodie Croyle hit Moss of Miami for a 30-yard TD in the first.

Moss made a nifty juke on a defender to get open on the play.

Tight ends Dominique Byrd of Southern California and Klopfenstein were the North's top receivers. Byrd had four catches for 67 yards and Klopfenstein finished with three receptions for 39 yards.

First rounder?

The man completed a pass to Derek Hagan.

A second miracle, and he'll be canonized.

I only saw the 2nd half but all in all, I have to say this Senior Bowl sucked. I really thought we'd see some people shoot up the board but everyone was pretty much playing like headless chickens out there. Disappointed with the receivers, bar Sinorice Moss. Not overly impressed with the QBs...thought I would've been more impressed with Cutler, Croyle, Shockley.

Thank God for the wind and the muffed punts.

-- Twelve future NFL players who represent some of the best in college football will compete in the ninth annual Capital One Presents the College Football All-Star Challenge. This year's event will be televised by ESPN, Saturday, February 4 at 4:00 PM EST. With the move to ESPN the show now expands to an hour and a half...

Over the nine year history of the event, twenty-four competitors have been chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft and 11 have been chosen in the second round. Among last year's competitors were NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Carnell "Cadillac" Williams and Chicago Bears quarterback Kyle Orton. Once again, the Challenge will be taped at Dolphins' Stadium in Miami

"We are excited to have one of the most compelling events of football's biggest weekend on ESPN. This season, we will have another outstanding field of competitors. If it is anything like past competitions, it will serve as an excellent precursor to the NFL Draft," stated Jason Coyle, Intersport Senior Vice President and General Manager, Media.

Texas quarterback and Rose Bowl MVP Vince Young and UCLA quarterback Drew Olson will lead this year's field. Confirmed competitors also include: Alabama quarterback Brodie Croyle, Maryland tight end Vernon Davis, Miami wide receiver Sinorice Moss, Minnesota running back Laurence Maroney, Clemson quarterback Charlie Whitehurst and Memphis running back DeAngelo Williams. Moss' brother, Redskins receiver Santana Moss, was a participant in the 2001 College Football All-Star Challenge. It is the first time a sibling of a former competitor has entered the contest.

There will be three divisions of competitors: quarterbacks, receivers/running backs and kickers. The kicking competition is new to this year's event. Stephen Gostkowski of Memphis, Connor Hughes of Virginia, Josh Huston of Ohio State and David Pino of Texas are the inaugural field. Additional competitors will be announced soon
