Sorry all, I don't want to open up this can of worms about Boldin yet again, and hope this thread doesn't become another shouting match.

But, I found an article that realistically points out the chances and a lot of good points. Many of the sentiments have already been echoed on the forums, but its nice to see them all layed out by a writer who actually understands.

Second, he's under contract next season. He can complain all he wants to about his contract. Lots of players do. But HE'S UNDER CONTRACT. And if he is traded, he'll be wanting a big, long-term deal. Always scary when he's not your property to begin with.
Third, Boldin is 29 next October. That's not the end of the line by any stretch. But the Dolphins aren't going to contend next year. Do you think they'll be contenders in 2010, which probably will be Chad Henne's first year as a starter? Maybe. The more probable timeline has the Dolphins being ready for a serious run in 2011. Boldin would be 31 by then. Again, not the end of the line. But it's in a foggy area where age and injuries creep up.
Fourth, do you really think Parcells is going to give up a No. 1 draft pick, assuming all of this, for Boldin? That's what it's rumored to take. Philadephia, trying to win next year, seems to be at the front of the line if the Cardinals trade him.
Fifth. Boldin will be expensive. He's going after his career contract. And who knows what his motivation is -- to get the contract or earn it fully with the next club? Cutler, to use him as a comparison again, is cap-friendly. He makes just over $1 million next year and is under contract for two more with incremental raises.
I love Boldin's game. I just don't see it happening for him with the Dolphins

The writer is exactly write. We're not getting Boldin. We will draft a WR in the draft.

It has already been said multiple times that it would cost too much to bring Boldin here. Not only in draft picks but salary as well. While I would like to see Boldin in a Dolphins uniform, I don't think it is realistic to think that it will happen anytime before his contract is up.

OMG, what is wrong with our education system today???

WOW!

I love Boldin but I would not want to give up a first we are not in a win now situation we are getting younger an will continue to get better and better.I say the asking price is too much

I wont lie i want Boldin really bad but i agree Boldin wants to be in Miami but Miami has never said nothing about wanting Boldin

One of the things that might have made this trade possibility more palatable from our perspective is if it came up 2 or 3 years from now with a player like Boldin. Our talent level would be higher, and we could throw in a starter that wasn't really a perfect fit for our system to reduce the compensation in draft picks. But we're not there yet. By the time we are, Boldin will be too old for the trade to have as much benefit. I can see us making such a move, but not this year and not for Boldin.

First let me say I agree that this probably will not happen.

But I'll also say that I really do want it to happen. I get the whole "rebuilding" thing, and that we're not contenders, yadda yadda. At the same time, I can't help but think with a few extra pieces last season we could have made a run similar to the Cards. If we had Boldin (and say, maybe a slightly better secondary or pass rush), we *might* have been able to get past the Ravens or have won another game or two during the regular season.

Quite frankly, I think the upcoming 2009 season is our best chance to contend for quite a while (despite the difficult schedule) and I do think we CAN with a few more pieces (another pass-rushing LB and a decent corner will do wonders for our D). Past this season, it will take Henne at least a year or two to get going. I'm not at all thinking we'll be contending in 2010 - how can you with a new QB? Sure, people will point to Ryan's fortunate season, but I think Henne's first season is more likely going to be a lot like Aaron Rodgers' - a solid performance but not necessarily one that marches the team into the playoffs.

I think Boldin helps us now, and in a big way. Does that make him worth a 1st rounder and a large contract? Probably not, but I don't think it's unreasonable to feel like his acquisition does make sense for us.

Yeah..What with all these people using internet chat abbreviations instead of typing out 4 more letters. What's happened to work ethic when people deem it too much effort to make four more keystrokes? Not to mention the use of multiple similar punctuation marks behind sentences. I wonder what English professor taught people that as proper grammatical form?

HILARIOUS bro....... Anyway I agree with oasis too how can that writer say we aren't contenders next year:crazy:

I not intrested in signing Boldin because I think his price tag coes in too high for him to be a good signing for us. This mentality that we are not ready to win now though really sucks.

We were not build to win last season either. Most of our own fans (myself included) only figured us to win 3-5 games and we pulled out 11. Our schedule is tougher this season is going to be hard pressed to see 11 wins but that holds true for the entire afc east. The only one going into post season from our division is the team that wins thier division. That should be our top priority winning those games. We can win our division and once we get to post season anything can happen. Another good draft and alot of things can change for us.

Believe in now!
