The 37 - 0 win over the Chargers was probably the best performance of the season, with total and complete dominance on Offense, Defense and Special Teams. This was the game a few days after Joe's Dad passed away and the team played as cohesively as I've seen in any game over the past 10 years and this was against a team generally regarded as competitive against good teams. Hayden rates their coach as vastly superior to Philbin.
How is it that the Dolphins were capable of total dominance (we could have won by a lot more - the backups played the final quarter) in that game but we took ages to get going in some other games and fell away badly in others? Why is it so?
Do you think that Joe's absence to grieve helped to fuel the result? If the team is capable of real dominance, why didn't we see it more often? And don't tell me Rivers just had a bad day.
This game said that the Dolphin team ceiling is very high. I welcome your thoughts...

Combination of things but we were healthy - we lacked depth - story of today dating back to Dan's SB appearance

Plain and simple, no Joe. We were healthy for other games and didn't play as good then.

It's always amazed me how a group of men need a motivator to play/work as hard as they can... but thats how it is.. Joe is the anti Motivator.. doesnt have a clue how to lead men. This team is leaderless.. Someone stepped up to lead this team during that week that Joe was out and it showed.

Joe is a horrible HC, Ross is a moron for keeping him. This team is stuck in limbo land again for atleast the next few years.

Thats not even the worst part... worst part is some of you around here still have your Orange colored glasses on and support every decision this dysfunctional team makes.

Wake up folks, until the majority of you stop renewing your season tickets and stop buy they merchandise they will not get the message. Dont settle for this mediocrity.

Dude....it is just a sport, how does being angry and holding on to so much animosity help at all?

Just a sport? My adult co-Ed team is just a sport! Wait never mind I get angry when we lose just as angry as the Dolphins lose..

That is a team you compete on and has a direct impact on your life, not a team one is the fan of...

Being competitive and spectating are very different...

I don't view this as anger. It's just a statement of fact. If you want change, send a message. The best way to send a message to an NFL owner is to not pay him your money and do not show up at games. Make your voice heard on the radio talk shows and contact local beat writers and get them to express in writing in their publications the opinions of the fans, en masse.
Maybe this statement was made because the poster was angry, I don't know, but it's true. Either settle for 8-8 / 7-9 and quit complaining, or don't and do something.

Maybe the players respected Joe and the played their ass off as a tribute to his father. Some made comments after the game as this was a major motivational factor. They had their leaders back IMO.

How did Tampa beat Pittsburgh? How did Tennessee beat Kansas City? In any given season, you're going to see some fluke games. It's sort of like playing golf. Some days you're great off the tee but your irons are useless. Some days you're hitting every green in par but you're putting like crap. Rarely does it all come together on the same day ...but it does happen. And sometimes none of it is working; those days happen too. That day in San Diego, we had a rare day when it all worked; SD had a rare day when nothing worked. I don't think it's any more complicated than that.

It's awful to say they won bc Philbin wasn't there. It doesn't make a lick of sense.

The shutout victory against the HOF Coached Chargers was just one of those games.

No you're wrong. The worst part is we've been begging and praying for a legit qb, we now have one and are on the verge of losing him after his rookie contract! That's what's pissing me off. Knowing he will likely sign elsewhere next season and I'll have to live another 10 years as a fin fan whining about how I wish we had gotten brees, or hadn't scared tanny away with our idiocy. Knowing our luck he'll become a UFA a mere 2 days after brady announces his retirement.

Agreed. they get paid shloads of $ to play a game yet need to be motivated?

That is a team you compete on and has a direct impact on your life, not a team one is the fan of...

Being competitive and spectating are very different...

Yet, more and more people think the 2 are synonymous. If you are a spectator... the event s/b treated as entertainment.
