I posted in an earlier thread, a response in comparing Cleo versus drafting a QB this coming year. Please read before continuing, as I didn't want to have to re-hash that all over again...

Can anyone offer a LEGITIMATE argument as to why they feel a QB fresh out of college would be better RIGHT NOW than Cleo as far as grooming a QB and building for the future? Is there an opinion out there that can show this year's draft class is deep enough to consider anyone MORE appropriate than Cleo, who we ALREADY HAVE and knows our system?

Cleo has experienced the pro environment, gone through training camps, and has performed well enough to earn a spot on our roster. Why CAN'T he be considered as THE QB to build around for the future? Is it because he's not as dynamic as a Vince Young, a Matt Leinart or even a Brady Quinn?

All this "draft a QB" talk is senseless. As last night shows, Cleo can be developed RIGHT BEHIND DC as a #2 backup, with the prospect of taking the reigns in the future.

WHY NOT!!!!?????

because this is cleos fourth season i believe and he really hasnt done much. i know he hasnt been given a chance but its obviously because his coaches didnt think he was ready. if we have an oppurtunity to draft brohm and we dont i will hate nick saban and the dolphin orginization for the rest of my life...the other qbs i dont really care about. i think russel is overrated

So, not drafting a qb you think is good will make you hate the Phins organization. WOW!

Brohm stays in this year. Troy Smith is probably our best shot at getting QB right.

That's exactly what I mean...

1. Not much chance (with the FIRST TEAM offense)
2. If he's not "ready," why not put in Shane Matthews, the 'more experienced' of the two QB's
3. What does Brian Brohm have that Cleo doesn't? Brian won't be 'ready' either- plus he has injury/durability issues that will come into question.

First off, the system has to go. It isn't working. If Saban stays he'd be wise to bring in a new coordinator and system.

Secondly, I don't know how you can count on DC. He looked lost mentally and confidence wise this year.

We haven't invested in a QB in the draft since Shula and haven't been a factor in that period. No coincidence. Its time to change that.

If you review the facts:

Cleo was in San Diego behind Brees and a former top round draft pick in Phil Rivers

He comes here and is third behind Daunte and former top round draft pick in Harrington

I don't believe the coaches didn't believe he was ready as much as they and were believed were already set at the QB position. Cleo was traded out of San Diego, much to the chagrin of Marty Schottenheimer and came here where he ultimately outperformed our starting QB(s)

It is a sad fact that Saban and Wanny both seem(ed) to mire themselves in QBs that continually fail to live up to expectations

not sure what your saying exactly but i want the phins to draft a qb if its the right one... just like most other people. Qurterback is the most important position in the legue and i think it factors in on wins and losses more than anything. As long as manning plays for the colts they will be good and as long as we start crappy qbs we will not be good. TO BE HONEST I REALLY DONT EVEN CARE ABOUT WINS AND LOSSES... PLAYOFFS AND THEN ON TO THE SUPERBOWL IS ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME. WINNING 9 GAMES OPPOSED TO 7 MEANS NOTHING. JOEY HARRINGTON WILL NEVER BE A SUPERBOWL QB AND I DONT SEE LEMON IN THAT ROLE EITHER. THE GUYS WHO CAN TAKE THIER TEAMS TO THE SB ARE THE ONES THAT ARE SMART AND DONT MAKE DUMB MISTAKES LIKE THROWING A PICK IN THE ENDZONE. LETS DRAFT A QB FOR THE FUTURE SO THAT FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS WE CAN COMPETE, BECUZ AS LONG AS BRADY IS ON THE PATS WE WILL NOT WIN WITH SOME SECOND RATE SCRUB.

I hope Cleo turns into the next Montana but there is nothing to support any confidence in him being a starter in this league. He wasn't even drafted out of college. He went to Arkansas State which does not exactly show any pedigree and had never had success in the league to hand your hat on. No, he wasn't given a chance to start, but I pray no one is pinning hopes on Cleo Lemon leading us the Super Bowl.

dude if cleo turns out to be the next romo(not completely sold on him yet) then sure play him. but if cleo plays medieocre then we need a qb. i dont care how many drafts we have where we get plamakers and make our team better without the finale peice(quarterback) we wont do anything. look at the colts since they have gotten manning they have been one of the best in the legue. All im saying is if we can draft the qb of the future we take him...whoever saban feels that is i dunno. Cleo should be the number 2 and get to battle for the starting job...after seeing joeys play drop these past two weeks im done with him, if you cant even move the ball and pick up a few first downs you dont deserve to play. and daunte i dont really even think about him because i dont think he will ever be healthy and i never was a fan, the guy showed early in the season (injured or not doesnt matter) that he cant read a defense if his life depended on it

No arguments here...We should play the best players just like we did last night when we put Lemon it

Is Cleo a "crappy" QB?

Why not?

Who are you talking about? Is Cleo a "second rate scrub?"

Who did that? Cleo?

I appreciate your feedback and the discussion...

To what do you base your hope on then?

So what? Cleo is his own guy.

Contradictory? How would YOU succeed if not given much chance/opportunity at your profession?

That wasn't the intent behind this thread. We're arguing the merits of drafting a QB or giving Cleo a LEGITIMATE shot.

A new Offensive coordinator? Hmmmmm that makes me drool with joy! Good bye MM, I never liked M&M's they make a mess!
