How would Henne done better than Pennington yesterday? Did you watch any of the preseason games, where Henne looked absolutely lost against 2nd string defenses?
The problem with yesterday's game, offensively, was NOT Pennington. It was the Offensive line, especially the left side of the line. Jake Long and Justin Smiley were being treated as turnstiles by the Atlanta defense, in both the run and the pass game. Unfortunately, Vernon Carey wasn't any better on the right.
Defensively, to say that Sean Smith played a good game would be a gross overstatement. The man got burned multiple times down field by Roddy White. Had it not been for Ryan underthrowing two of his throws, this game would have been a lot worse. In my opinion, Vontae Davis played much better
Also, why on earth do we have two hard hitting safetys? In the days when our secondary was good, we had on hard hitting safety (Sammy Knight) and one ballhawking safety (Brock Marion). Now we have safeties that pride themselves in tackling and not coverage. Against pass catching tight ends, we are going to get abused this year, much like Gonzalez did. (BTW, we play against Antonio Gates in 2 weeks. If you have him in fantasy, that's a must start).
Let me know what you think.
