i think the coaching staff has put away the playbook for the preseason. last nites game calling was very bland. they were running basic plays. i doubt if they want to expose anymore of the play calling they will be using this year. esp since we play all of our preseason teams. i think we will be shocked at how well the fins play in week 1. im still concerned with our secondary though. hang in there guys its preseason.

JDAM ! That’s why they play the preseason. Yes they secondary was a sieve and the O was totally out it on the first 3 drives. BUT the coaches clearly sat on the playbook and IMHO the D made the adjustments they needed to as the game went on. And you can’t discount the weather either.

Is there a lot of work to be done, you bet. However, let’s not get stupid here.

So if they put away the playbook, do they also tell the players to stop blocking? Stop tackling? Tell the WRs to break off routes, and QBs to throw to guys on the other team?

Because in addition to bland (inept) playcalling, all of that stuff happened too.

i would attribute poor tackling to 3 games in 11 days. poor blocking? well for the very few running plays the starters ran they averaged 3.0 yds and up a carry. not bad for the basic play calling. nothing fancy you know. i only saw 1 pass picked off and that was by henne, no big deal hes not our starter. plus if you think our qbs arent going to throw int this year , you are going to be real disappointed.

There aren't really any excuses for how they played yesterday. But fortunately it's a preseason game, which are soon forgotten. While we're embarrassed for (and by) our Fins, I'm not worried about their poor play translating to the regular season.

I am usually MR. Positive, but no they did not put away their playbook yesterday. They more then had a gameplan in place as all teams do for their dress rehearsal in preseson.

Our D didnt get their O off the field. And when our O was on th field, they weren't on long enough.

Poor Execution is all, not lack of gameplanning or play calling.

But screw it atleast its preseason, maybe yesterdays game is the wake up call they needed :). Rather it happen yesterday then when it starts to count.

They had no chance to implement their playcalling. Neither Offense nor Defense early on had any rhythm out there. It was a very frutrating and very odd game to watch.

With all the delays due to rain, instant replay reviews etc.., and poor execution made it tough to watch and tough I am sure to properly implement any play calling or schemes. But dont go thinking for 1 minute that our OC or DC did not have a specific gameplan or were holding back yesterday.

The Dolphins came out flat in their first road preseason game last night like they came out flat in their first road game last season against Arizona.

Then a week later the Dolphins stepped up and dominated the Patriots. And then beat the Chargers - the two teams in the AFC Championship game the season before.

And then went 11-3 after that horrid and incredibly flat showing in Arizona. The team was half asleep in that game.

Shows how fast things can turn around.. We should go back after that Arizona game and see what people wrote.

Sedondary and run blocking are the big concerns. The starting secondary has 3 of 4 new pieces and the offensive line has 2 new pieces. So, we should expect it will take a while for these units to jell.

yes you are right they did have a specific gameplan, basic football game play. they have used the wildcat in 1 game and it was just a couple times so yes they are holding back and they did it yesterday.

The defense is #5 in yards per game, #4 in points per game, #4 in yards per play, and #5 in 3rd down percentage. They're #4 in kickoff return average.

And this is in 3 games where most other teams have only played 2 games. By the time this weekend's round of preseason games is over, they'll probably be ranked higher in each of those categories.

They played the Jaguars, Panthers and Buccaneers. It's not like they played the Raiders, Rams and Chiefs.

Let's keep some of this in perspective.

That makes zero sense. Of course they were holding back. The Dolphins play each of these teams in the regular season. You think they're going to fire off their best bullets in MEANINGLESS games? Yikes. Talk about bad logic.

i also dont think are talent level is great enough that we are a team that can just line up and run basic plays and look great. we outsmart and scheme to win games. our coaches play a huge part in our sucess. its not much different than alot of teams but some are better at backyard style football than others. we will be fine imo.
