I know we signed Siddeeq Shabazz in January from the Saints (i think). He used to play with Atlanta, does he have any potential to make any impact on our secondary?

NO! he is a body, who has been with like five different teams. His chances of making team are slim, chances of making and impact, none! I hope everybody on this site does not jump all over Shabazz like they did Shyronda Mitchell and Kay Jay Harris. If Kay Jay is so good, why was he on our practice squad last season.

I hate people that have this frame of mind. I'm not saying this guy is any good, frankly i dont know much about him. But the generalization is terrible. Alot of people are on practice squads and in nfl europe before they become stars. I dont need to name any names as im sure every1 can think of a whole bunch off the top of there heads. Let our staff do what they do and develope some players.

He is playing over in NFL Europe right now...

He probably is just training camp fodder... not much more...

(However... if you are lucky, you strike gold every once and a while... just dont get your hopes up)

did you say the same about rod smith?

oronde gadsden was in arena football....

Okay, question: If Kay-Jay wasn't any good, why was he even placed on the Practice Squad and why wasn't he released off the Practice Squad like some of the other prospects like Tim McGill.

Kay Jay was on our practice squad... because he was BURRIED on our depth chart... He has some great potential for a rookie to be a solid contributor in the league. He wont even be our #2 this season... but that doesnt mean he doesnt have potential down the road to become a back-up down the road...

Not every good player in the NFL was a 1st round draft pick... some are diamonds in the rough... who knows what he will be...

Not to mention... the guy wasnt proclaiming he will be great in the future... he was just simply inquireing about his potential...

I believe we signed him after the season... pretty much just TC fodder... Since then... we sent him to Europe...

cuz saban sees some potential?:shakeno:

What I was saying was that maybe some of us here should actually watch a guy play in a regular season atomsphere before talking about how good he is. Despite what I said, I didn't mean to come off like I don't think players can become good off of practice squads and NFL Europe. It is just that it bugs me when people talk about people like they are an answer when they dont knwo anything about there talent.

Some people have just as much potential as other better players, but take better coaching and a longer time to put it together, thats like me asking if Jerry Rice was so good why did he play division 2 football

Down the road? He is not exactly a spring chicken. Yes he was a rookie last year but he does not have much time left in his career as far as the shelf life of a rb. He was a very old rookie a big reason many passed on him.

down the road - meaning his 3rd season... he will be ready to be a #2...

But the reason why the shelf life of RBs is so short... is because of the amount of hits they take. Since he isnt taking a pounding... his shelf life isnt as short as a starting RB.... I think he will be a solid #3 this season... and a solid #2 next season. For an undrafted free agent... that is some pretty sweet value...
