Ok, well I'm going to start off with the simple fact that a win is a win. This team needed something positive to happen to them and they got that winning a close game. As far as performance I dont think that they are completely happy with their output.

I try and be a positive person so I'm going to start with the positives that I seen from the game.

1. Wes Welker, yeah I know that he fumbled a punt that cost us points, but if anybody on the team has the right to make a mistake its this guy. He is a first down machine, and his energy and attitude is great.

2. Culpepper, he didn't have the most stellar game, but he also didn't have any turnovers. He made smart plays, and actually rushed for a TD, which I believe is going to do nothing but boost his confidence. I see a lot of people getting down on Culpepper on this site. One thing that we all need to remember is that he isn't going to be 100% until this time next year probably. So why dont we start Harrington then right?? Well how about the fact that if he uses this year to get the timing with his recievers, Mularky's playcalling, and his O-Line, then by this time next year we'll be ready to just go out there and play instead of learning each other.

3. Defense, while this wasn't pretty they did a good job stopping the run. WE ALSO CREATED SOME TURNOVERS! That was the biggest positive that came out of the Defense.

What do we need to work on??

1. The secondary in my eyes need probably the most work. By the third game these guys should be starting to understand Saban's system better and start performing. Daniels didn't look great yesterday, but he is just now coming back and needs to get into game speed. They also do have some talented recievers, I hated that Givens was in that game, he's a thorn in our side for many years. A question that I pose to those that read this is, what happend to our press coverage? I know that its not really part of Saban's system, but I think that it gets that DE and LB the extra second to get to the QB more often. I know that they are much more strict on the illegal contact and PI, but we need to jam these guys off their routes.

2. The O-Line, I personally think this could be Saban's biggest mistake. At the end of last year our O-Line was doing quite well. They wern't the best group, but they were improving. I hate the fact that every year we are rebuilding our line. We need to get some guys that we think can play the position and stick with them. Were never going to have a good O-Line if we have to keep replacing people year after year. Now off my rant and onto the game, the O-Line did ok. Culpepper has "time" to throw the ball, but there is usually pressure in his face. He doesn't get near the time that the very good QB's in the league get.

3. Special Teams, this is the second game in a row that we have had problems with special teams. We need to get that cleaned up, Mare missing the fieldgoal and Welker fumbling the ball. That was a chip shot for Mare and he didn't come though.

Hopefully this win is going to get these guys positive and start wanting to come out and play the game with a little more emotion. We have the Texans next week, its a "should win" game. On the flip side the Pats have the Bengals, Jets have the Colts, and the Bills have the Vikings. We have a very good chance of getting right back into the mix of winning our division.

My thoughts exactly on the offensive line. I believe if we had the exact same line as we had at the end of the year last season the Dolphins would be sitting pretty at 2-1 or even 3-0. I think even a Average performance by the o-line in the first 2 games would have been a huge difference.

Our o-line is getting blown off the ball by the other team. RB is doing such a great job just getting back to the line of scrimmage. Their pass blocking is ok, but they need to do a much better job at run blocking.

Good post. Thanks for the analysis. I didn't get to see the game (can't afford direct TV and NFL Sunday Ticket) but it seems to me it was much closer than it should have been. I'm assuming the points off the Welker muff was a big part of keeping the game close. That means the rest of the game must have been okay, right?

Our opponents receivers are constantly beeting us deep, luckily no one has hit a bomb on us yet, but it there - every time.
