We can blame Sherman all we want but how come Coyle is getting a free pass with his defense?

I know that Sherman play calling is terrible and was terrible in the 2nd half of the NE England game. BUT.....

But let's not forget that our run defense is also really mediocre at best right now. We are ranked in the bottom 15th of the league.

* Jimmy Wilson still covering the other team's best receiver game after game
* We cannot stop the TE
* We cannot stop the screen pass
* Questionable play calling on 3rd and long (Ex: The Saints converted a 3rd & 23 with Sproles)
* Reshad Jones has regressed

Our defense is on the field most of the damn game. How long are these guys expected to play a game? Not to mention our offense turns the ball over like its running out of style. Eventually it wears them down and that's one of the biggest reasons why our run D suffers late in games. The team is suffering becuase of our offense for the most part not the defense. Can the D play better sure, but they are far and away better than our O.

The WHOLE team is playing mediocre.

Coyle has had his moments both good and bad, but unlike Sherman, he did hire some experienced NFL position coaches, not a QB coach with no related experience who's his daugher's husband (considering the value of the raw asset the team has entrusted to him, isn't that more than a little ridiculous?).....and an OL coach with no NFL experience either.

Our defense has played Well. We stopped Gronk didnt we? Handled Grahmn except for a few mis plays didnt we? The problem is the offensive play calling and the line. Also this stupid Cadence we keep using.

True...but when your punter is your MVP....well,that says it all.

thats why he's the 10th highest paid player on this team and will make more money than ryan tannehill next year.

The defense has been good and bad but given the stretch's they played with key guys injured has to be considered. The biggest issue with the defense has been Wheeler's inability to do anything other than apply pressure inside. The guy is lost in coverage and has a tendency to try and knock someone down instead of taking them down. The issues on this team include the defense but are far more centered around coaching, the offense and the QB turning the ball over.

He has done an ok job considering Wake and Patterson have been hurt. It doesn't help much that Wheeler keeps getting exposed in the run game and in coverage.

What about Coyle? Tough to not allow the other team to score when they constantly turn it over on the other side of the field.

Despite mediocre stats, I actually don't have many complaints about the defense. Coyle at least has shown an ability to adapt this season if the game plan ain't working.
