The first is that having a balanced offensive attack – like the ones the San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants featured this season – takes an offensive further than being one dimensional.“I think there’s still balance. Some teams chuck it more than they throw it. Other teams want to control the ball,” said Sherman, who intends to run a balanced offense with the Dolphins. “They play a little better if they have a defense that holds up for them.”http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...tinuity-in-offense-benefits-quarterbacks.html

many talk about the NFL as a passing league but the best teams are able to throw and run

If he wants balance, I hope they bring in another running back. Thomas couldn't stay healthy and Reggie bush should only tote the rock 20 times a game max

When you have a strong running game, the defense is always guessing. As the Giants have shown, it is the only formula to beat the New England Patriots. The rushing attack wears the defense down, and keeps the opposing offense on the sidelines.
If we could draft Richardson(I hope he falls to us), I would be excited to see him and Bush carrying the rock.
Add Fleener, Fasano, and Marshall, and we will be hard to stop.

I like when the passing game opens up holes for the running game. I don't like the other way. Brees, Rodgers, Brady, and other good QBs open up the running game for their offense.

We were perfectly balanced 50/50 run/pass last year. How did that work out??? We need to execute better and it won't matter what plays are called. We need better interior blockers and more 3 step drops to get the ball out faster. Marshall also needs to spend some time on the jugs machine.

Every coach says they want balance. In the WCO it's going to be pass heavy, but how many screens and planned passes to a RB will there be? Balance is all in the interpretation. If we have Moore at QB then 50-50 would be fine. If we get a real QB then expect it to tilt toward the pass.

Of course he said he wants balance. What else would he say? As far as the pass first league thing, well, it has been a run first league too. At this point it is more about realizing what the common trend is and planning to take advantage of it. NE did well at that with the utilization of Tight Ends. I think balance is a must which is why it is no big news. But how you tip the scales of balance to win each week and perhaps each season is where the smarts come in. Should be interesting to see what the new guys create.

balance is good but you need to know what it is that your team does best and use it when it counts.

Ozzy rules!!
