This guy is fast. 4.33, WOW!!

I've read a lot of good things about him, and Saban seemed pretty smug that he managed to get him. The scouting reports say he is raw but is a great developmental prospect.

I think any developmental prospect has a great chance of developing well with us because of the quality of our coaching staff.

He could be our next Ogunleye. (ie. Good Player who came to us undrafted due primarily to injury issues)

Mitchell has the upside and the potential to be good. I think he has to sit for a year because of injury or something like that. I can wait though. He is fast, good size. Phillips will turn this guy into a good corner.

Very true, and I hope he is. His situation reminds me a lot of what Bell went through. Hopefully though, Mitchell can turn it around faster then Bell(who I hope wins the starting FS job this year).

Yea hopefully he is as good BUT WITHOUT the salary problems

Yeah, when I heard about him he really caught my eye. Do you know how long his injury is going to keep him out of practice? And do you think he'll end up making practice squad for us or possible make the team if we end up releasing Reggie Howard or Mario Edwards? I think he'd be great on special teams for us.

I think he'd go on IR for the year.

I hope he develops well and eventually contributes to the team. However, I don't think we should get our hopes too high on a guy that was projected to be a 6th round pick BEFORE the injury that will now sideline him for the year.

why do people keep thinkin mario edwards will get released????????? he is a good 3rd corner and saban JUST picked him up not to long ago and signed him to a contract, why would he be released....

Please refrain from name calling... and keep all body parts to yourself.

Thanks,

Mgmt

Bell was a 6th round pick, and was much older, I believe he was 25 or 26 and Tore his ACL in pick up basketball.

With Mitchell, he's younger, didn't use a draft pick on him, which is a little less money as well, and it was a football injury.

Ogunleye as a rookie was placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List. I would guess that is where Mitchell ends up too. I think it would be foolish to try and push things to get him back on the field this season. Two torn ligaments, and he is a raw (though very athletic) talent anyway. Not someone who would be pushing for even a nickel back job this season IMO. To try and get him back too soon would risk reinjuring the knee. In the long run, I think Saban should aim for getting Mitchell ready for the 2006 season.

Yeah, he'll probably sit on IR this year. Apparently he tore his ACL at the combine (or his pro day, I can't recall). At a minimum, he would be put on the PUP and then re-evaluated later in the year. Whenever he's ready to go, I hope he can regain his speed and quickness after having an ACL tear.

There was a little something about him in the Miami Herald today. It said that he was quite possibly the most impressive rookie of all, and did not take one snap on the field. Apparently Saban has watched a lot of film of him.

He will sit out for the year on the Physically unable to preform list.

As I said last week....of all the players drafted and undrafted....this kid has the most upside and of course downside. He's a former wide receiver, a kick returner and learning now how to play corner....just my thoughts....imagine giving this kid a year to rest and recover....and time to learn....here's a player who could play on both offense and defense....plus help in the return game. Now wouldn't be nice to have him in the slot...a kid that runs anywhere from 4.33....to 4.29? And has to have good enough hands to be a returner....man...O' Man what that wouldn't do for the new offense!!
