The Dolphins are in this situation because although Sammy Knight, Jeff Zgonina, Junior Seau and Terrell Buckley were successful offseason acquisitions as individuals, but as a group they didn't make the Miami defense dominant.

Knight, Seau, Zgonina and Buckley were upgrades over Arturo Freeman, Derrick Rogers, Jermaine Haley and Jamar Fletcher in their respective roles.
