The Carmelo Anthony trade landscape changed at least a bit on Sunday, when ESPN.com’s Chris Sheridan reported that the forward had informed Denver’s front office that he would sign a contract extension only if the Nuggets trade him to the Knicks. This would presumably mean Anthony has told the Nuggets that he will not sign the three-year, $65 million extension they offered months ago, and that he would not accept similar deals with suitors other than the Knicks.

Even if he goes to NY...South Beach is where it's at. GO HEAT!

it'll be a done deal, if the world watches the knicks compete impressively in the playoffs this year.melo will be so enthused, he won't consider signing anywhere else.

if they tank, between now and the trade deadline, then yes they had better try to trade for him.

under d'Antoni, he gets to score 25-30 a night plus play little defense..

What he's doing is worse than what Lebron did. He's holding the Nuggets hostage and basically gave all the power to the Knicks. New York doesn't have to give up much for Melo cause they know that no matter what, he's gonna be playing at the garden whether its this year or not.

'Melo hasn't come out and said anything, and I would take anything the sportswriters say with a healthy amount of skepticism. After all, I believe it was Sheridan that knew Kobe was being traded to the Bulls according to his "inside sources".

Everyone seems to assume that Carmelo can hold the Nuggets hostage here by assuring them that he will not re-sign in the offseason. I think the Nuggets are the ones with the commanding position here. 'Melo has clue what next year will bring. The NBA could be headed into a lockout, or have a new CBA with a franchise tag, reduced maximum contracts, or even a true salary cap. It is in Carmelo's best interest to get a contract now, and the only team that can give him the opportunity to get this contract is Denver.

But if the Knicks can get him via trade or free agency they should do whatever it takes. Knicks' fans are on top of the world at the moment but reality should set in real quick when they go up against the Celtics and Heat. This is a .500 team, which in the lousy east means playoffs, but little more than a 7th seed and a first round sweep. They need more than Felton, Amare, and a bunch of shooters.

speculate is all we can do right now,but he isn't signing denvers offer, and appears to be on his way out.
