I think the original deal was for two years... Given his level of play and the calming influence he has had over the offense this year, I would like to see the Fins extend him at least a year. If anything... to have the a savvy veteran on the team, once Henne takes the reigns. Better to do it now than when he is a UFA.

Thoughts?

sometime next season it will probally get done. I am all for resigning him and keeping him here even after Henne gets his start. Thats assuming Henne is our guy of the future. I would love to have Pennington as our b/u when the time is right.

No i dont think it should be done after next season he will be around 34 and we will probably get Chad Henne in there after next season

i say yes.. cuz even if we do decide to go with henne in 2 years, we will be able to trade penny for at least a 6th

I say wait until this year is over see where we stand and make him an offer. There is no rush it was a two year contract worth $11.5 million. After this year if the coaching staff and Tuna believe he would be worth another few years I believe they will restructure and extend his contract.

No!!! Soon the rest of the league will be on to our "gimmick" plays that we're forced to use to hide the fact that our Q.B is our weakest link."Go stand at the wide reciever position,Chad!"

are you out of your mind? Chad is the reason that we're still playing for a playoff spot let alone the division title...

No way, he's already gonna make about 6 million a year, this year and next. Thats all we'll need him for, its unlikely his ressurection lasts longer than that. Next year he might have a legit shot at a super bowl thats all he could ask for from us and maybe thats all we owe him.

Wow, I have no idea what to say but wow. I am not even going to try to set you straight, because obviously you are too far gone.

As much as I love winning with CP behind the helm, but I want to make sure Henne is the real deal...I would love to have Chad as a backup to keep mentoring Henne and would also love him to come back an maybe be a QB coach or on the coaching staff? But do you think Chad is still a Jet at heart?

Chad is 7th in the league in yards and 5th in the league in yards per attempt. You're delusional.

they should but i dont think that they will because i think that after 2 seasons of learning they are going to want Henne to come in evetually

Anyone who says no is insane. How can you not? Look I want to win, I don't care who QB of the future is, etc. If Pennington is winning us games, you don't throw a rookie with no NFL experience in anywhere without knowing your veteran is absolutely finished. That was the mistake the Jests made and how Chad fell into our laps. You extend the contract of this man. However I don't feel it should be extended until next season.

I love Pennington as much as the next guy, but if he is the starting QB in 2010, then we have a problem. He is already under contract for next year. After that, we will either sign him to a lower money backup role, or another team will splurge and make him their starter.

Also, if we were to extend him, wait until next year. We wouldn't want him to pull a "Derek Anderson" and be horrible after a great year. Make Pennington prove it over 30 games or so.
