One thing to consider in regards to Alabama quarterbacks is that they essentially went an entire decade without one in the 70's and early 80's. Bama ran the Wishbone and basically just had another running back taking the snaps. Back in those days you didn't worry about who the starting quarterback was. All you worried about was who the backup and 3rd string QB's were. You were going to need him at some point.

Despite all that, Alabama is still tied with Purdue with the most quarterbacks (3) to start and win superbowls. Although some of Bart Starr's NFL championships weren't technically called superbowls yet.

Ironically, right behind is BYU - tied with Notre Dame and Stanford for the second most QB's to start and win superbowls, all with two each.
