Not because I like them but because I think the NFL favors their style of play. Let me explain why I state this. During the game when the Dolphins were driving down the field to come back Pennington hit Ginn with a sideline pass and he was driven out of bounds and the clock continues to run and every time I see this I think why aren't the refs stopping the clock to which I am reminded of the rule that states the clock can't be stopped by the sidelines in the last 5 minutes.(I hate that rule with a passion; think of all those last minute comebacks that use to be so exciting to watch.)My point is by stripping the offense of the luxury of utilizing the sidelines it makes it twice as hard for offenses to comeback and plays favorably into the hands of defenses basically putting more pressure on offenses and limiting their influence on the game. So because of this rule it seems to me as though it would be better to focus on building a more killer defense type team.Thoughts?

I didn't know a rule existed that you can't use the sidelines within the last 5 minutes ..? Are you sure that's a rule though? Never heard of it before

That's not a rule. The rule is that the other than the final 2 minutes of the first half and final 5 minutes of the second half, the clock continues to run when the ball is placed. Ever if the player went out of bounds.

I think after a couple of years the Ravens are going to be asking should we model ourselves after the Dolphins.

I would try to model our Defense like the Ravens. Who woudn't want that defense?

I guess so. As long as we don't have to change to wearing purple. blech!

Where do you suggest we find a LB that got away with involvement in a murder to lead our defense?

LOL I WOULD WANT THAT DEFENSE, WE GOT MANHANDLED, THEY MADE OUR OFFENSE LOOK SOft.

sleek- One of the reasons the Ravens are defensive-minded is because of the Steelers. Playing them 2x a year, you see what it means to have a "Killer" [i'm sure knucklehead Ted likes that reference] defense. One that clearly starts with Ray Lewis.

The Ravens won a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer as the qb- Trent Dilfer. All because of the defense. [Heck, we didn't even score a td in 5 games- but still won most of them because of the defense and Stovers field goal kicking].

Ted- now you have alot of time to kill-between games!!

we did.. like 5 yrs ago. No offense, all defense kind of team. I still remember back in 03? or 04 when we faced the ravens and both teams didn't score a touchdown. I think the score was 12-9 in favor of the dolphins.

They stack that defense through the draft every season. We should go ahead and do that this season's draft. We need to get playmakers in our defense.

I'll take Bill Parcells over the Ravens braintrust(although they did get their ring 9 years ago, props to that).

Anytime you could model your defense around the Ravens or Steelers it's a no brainer. Great defenses give you a chance week in and week out and your always playoff ready.

The Steelers have been a threat almost every year in the past decade, the Ravens have really struggled when they believed they needed a upgrade at QB over T.Dilfer. Say what you want about what Dilfer can't/couldn't do but he did enough to win a Superbowl. Funny that's like us having Pennington now and some people think we can't win the big one with him.

Now remember along with those great defenses came a great Oline aswell, both those teams could really pound the rock when they won the Superbowl. Pittsburgh ran the ball almost seventy % of the time with a rookie QB in Big Ben. BP has already shown us that he will build the Lines first and then out from there.
