You guys think we should look into this guy, or is he washed up? I have not been following him, but I know he used to be a really good corner.

LIONS FIRE FERNANDO

The Detroit Lions have announced that they have released veteran cornerback Fernando Bryant.

Bryant, signed as an unrestricted free agent in 2004, was under contract through 2009. He was due to earn a base salary of $3.35 million in 2008.

Selected in the first round of the 1999 draft by the Jaguars, Bryant spent five seasons in Jacksonville before heading to Detroit.

He immediately becomes an unrestricted free agent, and can sign with any team.

I like Fernando,I think he is a solid number 2 guy.I still think we should get a CB somewhere in the draft, preferbly at 32 with Dominque Rodger Cromartie, but yea,I think Bryant is a great guy for this team....

Fernando Bryant sucks. He played on the Lions one of the worst Pass Defenses in the league.

And he may have been their worst player.

and you should consider changing the thread title??

If teams needed to pass against our #32 rush D we would have been last at pass D. Anyone may be an upgrade and everyone is worth a look.

the reason our rush D was so bad was because teams were usually ahead and wanted to run the clock out. stats are misleading in alot of categories

in regards to FB being the worst player on the Lions defense... NOT TRUE! He was their most productive but he is also due over 3 mill that's why he was cut AFTER he asked for his release

He did start 38 games and all 16 last year with Detroit. If nothing else he is dependable and has experiance.

Lions released CB Fernando Bryant.

Bryant led Detroit with 13 pass breakups in 2007, but was unhappy there and pushed for his release. With Travis Fisher and Keith Smith unsigned, the Lions hold the rights to one cornerback who played extensively last year; restricted free agent Stanley Wilson.

We already have 3 Fernando Bryants on our team. If he is the best we can do so be it. Just hopeing we can upgrade.

I'll pass...best days are behind him...
He could offer some good ST plays and add experiance and contribute to our secondary. Not everyone has to get big money and be in their prime to help out. He may have something to teach if we get a rookie or to our youger guys we have. He would also add durability which we needed the last few years with all our CB injuries.

The way our corners keep getting injured we may need him. We need some ST players as well. I'm sure he could help someway. I'm not calling for him to start but if he was to comew in and win it then I'll cheer him the same as a rookie. Just not expect any rookie mistakes.
