The greatest Coach in NFL history - Don Shula was in Portland, Oregon this week for the opening of his restaurant "Shula's" which has several locations around the USA... He will also appear on tour with the Get Motivated! Seminar along with Speakers including: Zig Ziglar, Dr. Robert Schuller, Steve Forbes, Tom Hopkins, General Colin Powell, and Rudy Guiliani.

Shula was interviewed on KGW-8 Portland NBC affiliate "Sports Sunday" September 24. After a discussion of his restaurant and a few anecdotes on the 72 Super Bowl team - he was then asked what do you think of QB Joey Harrington, he is originally from this town.

"People in Miami really like Joey Harrington, from what I understand", Shula said. "He's a good athlete and he's learning the Offense there. We're going to see him in the game, if Culpepper continues to struggle"... "No question, Harrington gets a shot".

i didnt hear anything about this.... but seriously I almost hope they would throw joey out there because you'd drop this sillyness in a heartbeat.

Right - you wouldn't hear anything about it unless you're in Portland - where I am. Just a local interview - thought it might be of interest here. Sillyness? Who knows - lets give Joey "a shot" like Shula says - 3 games. Then we'll have a basis of comparison. Until then why would you assume it's silly?

Putting him behind this O-Line would be the equivalent of giving him shot alright. A gun shot, because he'd get killed. But I'm too young to know that, I'm only 20

harrington is not a better QB than Culpepper.... but he IS more mobile right now, and right now we need the mobility. I say put Harrington in there until Daunte is 100%. Harrington, even on a bad day, isn't as bad as Culpepper. If nothing else he'd at least provide a spark. The offense was a real yawner today, against a pathetic defense.

I agree with that. Culpepper has been struggling. It's good to see the team notch a win though. Maybe that will somehow help his progression.

IF he said that in an interview you would hear it in miami. and it seems like there may have been more that you left out

cuz your calling for the backup after 3 games like you know he's a better option.... BTW i see your from portland... it all makes sense now.

Hey it's the least i could do !!! No need to thank me

Joey can't do any worse than DC...sorry but we could very well be 0-3...especially after his fumble today, which we were lucky to recover. A 13-10 win over a crappy team doesn't make us good. Hopefully DC will improve...if not I think he should be pulled. :rolleyes2

Joey can't do any worse than DC...

hey don't be so sure of that... there are Qbs playing worse than Daunte right now and there not exactly in any worse a situation. I think we could do alot worse at QB right now... Besides if you havent noticed some improvement in Daunte over the past 3 games than look again..

Great, we're listening to coaches who are retired now...

Does everyone else have selected memory about what kind of shape Shula left this team in when he "retired". There is a reason he got "retired"...
