In what could have been a confidence builder for the fans and players yesterday, our clueless Head Coach fumbled and lost a golden opportunity. Not recognizing, and more importantly, not accepting the need for change and a fresh start with the offense is a bit perplexling and certainly disappointing.

Naming A.J. Feeley as starter (long ago) was the obvious choice. The owner demanded it by emasculating Wanny when he took his GM duties away and declaring AJ as the next Marino. Spielman tried his best to give Wanny a young, talented QB who can actually makes throws longer than 5 yards. Even his assistant coaches advised him to start Feeley. The fans have done everything but burn crosses in Wanny's front yard to let him know they are tired of the Fiedler era and need a change....any change.

Losing to Tennessee was no big deal. This team is a veteran-loaded Super Bowl contender and we were not expected to beat them. We just needed to feel good about our team and establish hope. Instead, we get Wanny going against THE WORLD, which has left us with a confused mess and a Quarterback controversy. After pulling Jay out and saving us from another half of utter disgrace by playing Feeley, Wanny still couldn't muster enough testosterone to say Jay is finished. Stubborn or stupid?

Wanny needs to look no further than a man who has the dubious position of Chief Figurehead for the Dolphins - Don Shula. For those of you who don't remember, Don Shula loved to run the football and put together some pretty decent ball control offenses (a perfect season would be one example). Bob Griese threw only 7 passes in a Super Bowl victory because of the Dolphins brilliant ball control offense. Shula loved to pound it in with Csonka.

Shula had to adjust though, year later, when Marino arrived. As badly as Shula wanted balance, he knew he had a superstar and he made the most out of what he had to work with. Shula adjusted. Just as there were times Griese hardly ever threw a pass, the exact opposite often occurred with Marino. Shula didn't win any Super Bowls during the Marino era, but he got the most out of every team he coached and always gave the Dolphins a chance for the playoffs.

Wanny is narrow-minded and simply does not adjust well. Everybody, and I mean everybody, knew the Feeley era was here long before Wanny did. That's scarey. Wanny still wants to hand the ball to Ricky 30 times a game. By the way Dave, Ricky's on a smoke break and I don't think he'll be back soon.

Wanny will never change. When your starting QB's rating (8) is lower than most jersey numbers; when you earn more penalities (14) than you do points (7) - by the way that is a franchise record, and when you create more turnovers (3) than drives producing scores (1) something is terribly wrong. He refuses to accept reality and will always resort back to the devil he knows.

As John Lennon once said, "Life is what happens when you're making plans." I think Wanny should talk to Shula about life and stop making plans, because his plans simply aren't working.

There is a clear distinction.Shula adapted to the players he had.Wanny is always trying to fit square pegs into round holes.

Your statement is correct exept for Shula's 1995 team. 1st round draft picks and probowlers at nearly every position but one of the most underachieving teams in league history. That being said...of course Wanny should try to learn a thing or two about football from Shula. Then again, Wanny could probably learn a thing or two about football from my 6 year old niece.
