We still saved a ton of money by not pulling deals for arrington and peterson before the draft...

What's the scoop with Lance right now? Is there possibility that he re-signs and takes Jay Allen under his wing? Is he looking at other teams still?

I havent heard much about him...

apparently we are just not interested in bringing him back... i dont see why not, even if we didn't wanna start him he could be good depth, its not like other teams are lining up to sign him... i dont get it...

I remember reading that Shulters and Miami decided to part ways...I don't think we even made an attempt to re-sign him. I would love to see Lance back at a resonable $$$ but I think that ship has sailed.

One reason you haven't heard much about Lance in recent weeks is because of the draft and mini-camps. Teams were focused on these areas and the majority of the second tier free agents are put on the back burner, for now. Another reason may be that he has priced himself too high.
Look for FA activity to pick up again around June 1st when players start getting released.

I couldnt see why Saban wouldn't want to bring him back .. he was arguably our best DB last year.... and would be an asset teaching our first round pick the ropes..

the only thing that i can think of is that lance wants a long term contract.. and Saint Nick is trying to keep our aging defense young..

Maybe in the first half of the year he was our best DB but his play the last month was well below standard. He gave up big plays in the Raiders and Jets game to allow them to get back into the game. Maybe Saban didn't buy Shulters excuse of him just misplaying the ball.
Lance may also think he deserves a bigger contract than the one Miami was/is offering?

Not ARGUABLY..he was def. te brightest spot in our secondary..and in ranking blown plays by our DBS last year, Lance's lapses are at the bottom behind the circus we saw with reggie howard, travis daniels (he will be a pretty gooddb tho) and even sam madison. these guys "miscalculated the ball" and many other things as well...

we will def. not be keeping hm tho...db had been one of our biggest priorities this offseason and while they will not all pan out (I predict will allen will be a dissapointment like he was in NY) we certainly have young, raw talent that could be worked into something great. Im personally thrilled to see will poole...

i think it all has to do with the money he wants.....i think saban like sthe guy but he may command too much money....something saban will not do

I don't know, I thought Lance Schulters was fair AT BEST.
He DID make his mark in Miami though, with his INT. against Carolina to win the game for us. I will forever remember him for that one play. Other than that, I thought he was pretty useless.

I think they are looking for someone younger, bigger and definately faster than Lance (Jason Allen) and frankly are just not that interested at this time.

Lance made the decision that he didn't want to be here next year. If that's how it is, then I don't want him here either. I want guys that want to be on the field all working towards one goal, a championship. Any one else, no matter the talent level, can just leave.

I would love to see him resign with Miami, Have him and Jason Allen play both safety spots, after all it wouldn't look so bad. Then start Will Allen and Travis Daniels at corners with Poole as our nickle back.

Schulters was part of the problem in the secondary, not part of the solution.

Yep.
