Si Analyst: Dolphins' Kenny Stills One Of Football's Most Complete Wrs

Stills catches a lot of long TDs. That isn’t easily replaceable. It’s a certain skill set to do that consistently.

Stills adjusts to the ball in the air as well as anyone in the league, he definitely serves a purpose even in a top notch WR unit(Not saying the Fins have a top notch WR room, just that Stills could be part of a top NFL unit without being a passenger). That being said, he's far from a total package WR. In other words, Stills is to the deep ball what Landry is to the short game without the ego... He's a specialist and there's nothing wrong with that.
Agreed. His specialty is to catch the bomb / big play. He’s been better at it than Mike Wallace was and cost no where near as much.

Well I did say that’s just my take on it.

I don’t know where this “willingness to work the middle” stuff comes from. When I think that I think lb level and I haven’t seen it.

What he's asked to do and what he's willing to do are two completely different things.

Do you think he is overpaid? I don't, and if you replace him with anything close to his skill level, the cap implications are minimal, so $ is a non issue to me.

If you just want to get rid of any remotely talented players so we can tank, that's a different story, and one I'm not interested in reading.

Now, if you telk me you can trade him, and his contract for a high to mid rd2, then yes, I'll listen.

There are 32 WRs in the NFL who either make as much, or more, than he does. And a few players who make more than him are definitely not as good.

Agreed. He’s a solid piece. Not even remotely mission critical and unless a guys mission critical or hard to replace I’m more than willing to part with him.

Especially if the player doesn’t look to have any more upside

Kenny's deep ball catch percentage is one of the tops in the league, and has been for quite a few years now. He's absolutely mission critical to this team, because outside of him, we have a hurt Albert Wilson, a 5'6 receiver coming off of injury, a former first round pick who hasn't been able to get his head out of his ass, and a bunch of other unproven players.

Without taking the the time to look it up (yes, 30 seconds, I know), I assumed that to be the case.

Thanks for the verification.

"The fact that he is the number 1 WR just highlights how poor the group is."

^^^ This or the poster trying to make an evaluation is particularly poor at the task.

You have two WR coming back from bad injuries, Parker (the one we all thought would be cut) and Stills.. and a bunch of guys fighting for spots.

Who besides Stills in that WR room after the injuries stood out to you? If your not concerned about the WR you should be. If were lucky enough to get back both injured WR and they can stay healthy, and have Parker play well that would be great, but that’s a lot to be counting on.

My two cents...

Stills is a very good WR. He does a lot of things right. He was never supposed to be our #1WR, Devante Parker was supposed to be. Unfortunately for Stills, he has to assume that role. Stills would be an excellent #2 WR on any team with a legit #1.

Hes a very good seam threat and outside vertical threat. He would be putting up very nice numbers with a QB like Rodgers.

But who wouldn't? I still see his skillset very complementary to the previous HC philosophy in GB. Andy Reid is another who would use his skillset to a maximum level.

This is spot on to me.

Kenny Stills has a lot of production since coming to Miami from NO Saints. He has 21 TDs as a Dolphin and averages 16 ypr. That is excellent considering the awful QB play and offensive schemes he's played in down here. He should have a big year going forward with better QB play.

I don't think better QB play is a "given". That could go either way.

The situational play calling, and game planning should be better, for sure.
