SI Grades on Miami’s 2025 Draft Picks

I am disappointed in Grant because I thought the one thing he was supposed to be good at was being stout against the run even if he didn't offer much in the way of a pass rush.

For Jonah to look like he is a complete bust after all we gave up to move up to draft him is just devastating and Grier made a huge mistake in terms of scouting him.
Both are much too young to give up on at this point. I guess the second contract is up in the air for these two guys...

The writer, Dante, is very young but frankly excellent. He and Kyle Crabbs are two of the smartest analysts out there. He’s done his homework when he makes those comments.

If you grade the pick based on value for where they were picked, I’d probably give Biggers an A and Grant a D. Like Chop and some of our other first round picks, the missed opportunity is painful. Common thread in Dolphins history.

Jonah is so bad that words can’t even describe it. We all saw him get overpowered by a nickel corner.

C seems high for a group of guys who rank consistently in the bottom 1/3 of their draft class. It’s still early and maybe they develop but it’s hard to see it with some of these guys.

I dont think he would have moved the needle as much as Pearce (who I believe would have been the right pick considering we drafted 2 more DTs later in the draft, a productive Edge is really what we needed)
In hindsight Pearce probably would have made the most sense since Chubb wont be here much longer if at all and Chop has been disappointing.

Phillips and Biggers have been just as good if not better than Grant.

I never wanted to trade up from 48 to 37 and would have taken the DB Amos who was good for the Commanders until he got injured late in the season.

Pearce and Amos would have been two good building blocks for our defense.

We could have had Watts if we didn't give up the pick we gave up in the Jaylen Wright trade which was pick number 79 in the 2025 draft.
Don’t worry, we would have blown that pick anyway.

Was a solid draft just not the home run Miami needed.

The first two picks are arguably the worst from that class so far. Frustrating that we have missed so badly on O linemen and to trade up, giving up more assests is what makes this a very average draft. Had potential to be a home run though with all the late round contributors who all had their moments.

That was a fitting last draft for Chris Grier, it exemplified everything that made him him.
Yep, the guy had no vision. it's amazing that some fans thought this was a good draft.
Missed opps all over the place from Warren to Quincy Riley to Miles Frasier. I think our deposed GM boxed himself into a corner by creating desperate situations on both lines but just reached on picks and wasted draft picks to make more bad ones,

and even if Grant works out Zabel, Warren and Barron were all better players who filled bigger needs.
I don't know how the nimrod Grier and his staff thought they HAD to draft three of the same kind of DT.
I don't know if its a bad draft but the strategy is just awful and the first pick led to a cascade of other picks that should have been better

I'm likely in a small minority, but I blame Mcd due to his inability to see value in the TE. I'm convinced he didn't have an epiphany the run game and TE's needed emphasis. we can argue whether TE was the top priority, but I see no argument Mcd loves fast smurfs.

I fully agree with you. The sad thing about that is, his leading receiver in 2024 was a TE, who enjoyed a career season.

Yet he and Grier still bypass Warren, an elite TE prospect, in the April draft then double down by trading away Smith in June.

I actually like Waller (when healthy) and Dulcich, but neither are anywhere near as good as Warren. And Waller is 33.

We’ve seen the impact Travis Kelce has had during his career in KC and Rob Gronkowski in NE and TB, both playing integral roles of building dynasties that won 7 Super Bowls between them. We’ve seen the impact of George Kittle in SF, who has been a key component to the Niners success, advancing to two Super Bowl’s.

Warren may never be as good or impactful as those guys, but he’s off to a pretty darn good start and those types of talents do not grow on trees. When one becomes available to a team — they are ignorant not to take that player.

Maybe the Patriots interest in Savaiinaea was a ruse?

I guess at least Wright is trending in the "right " direction." I hope Miami hits big on the next GM.

Warren actually reminds me of Kelce.
