I'm hearing from people in the know that Davis is locking in on Georgia Tech receiver Calvin Johnson.
The thinking is that Davis, who is 77 and said to be in poor health, is desperate to win now, and he understands how hard it is to do so with even the most talented of rookie quarterbacks. Davis also is well aware of the glaringly low success rate of quarterbacks drafted in the first round over the past 15 years. Remarkably, he still has faith in incumbent quarterback Andrew Walter, and Johnson is the closest thing to a sure bet -- and, potentially, an instant impact player -- that the draft has to offer.

If old Al Davis is sold on Calvin Johnson and the Raiders decide to Draft him, this could be a blessing from the Football Gods. It would help so much in Quinn Falling and everyone knows the Browns would snag Russell in a heart beat. The question becomes what does Tampa do and will the Lions pass up on Quinn.

Definitely would take the Browns out of the race unless Crennel squeals and whines to Savage to take Quinn despite Savage's love for Russell. Tampa I don't think will take a QB and if they do, considering the other holes they have, it would be ridiculous. Best thing for them would be to take Thomas or a DE. Lions likewise.

I hope if true that Al Davis wants Johnson so bad, the Raiders take him. Im guessing they would trade for McCown or possibly Daunte. What becomes interesting is what happens with Detroit, but the chances of Quinn falling would defitnetly be there.

Raiders already have Josh McCown

that means nothing- because lions will get Russel and Browns would get Quinn anyway so it doesnt matter

I'm not believing this, or anything else I read up until the draft, because everyone is manipulating everyone else in these months, but I'll play along and pretend it's true. How does everyone see the top 10 going then?

I'll go ahead and say:

Raiders - Calvin Johnson
Cards (Trade with Lions) - Joe Thomas
Browns - Adrian Peterson
Bucs - Levi Brown (it's a reach but IDK who else they would take, and I'm only projecting trades within the top 10 here so trade down isn't an option in this particular mock)
Lions (Trade with Cardinals) - Gaines Adams
Dolphins (Trade with Redskins) - Brady Quinn
Vikings - Jamaal Anderson
Falcons - LaRon Landry
Redskins (Trade with Dolphins) - Amobi Okoye
Texans - Leon Hall

McCown is not a Raider and I hope this article is true. I think Quinn is a perfect fit in Miami. I don't understand the people that don't want him. Miami has gone through Huard, Fiedler, Lucas, Feely, Frerotte, Culpepper, Harrington, and Greise since they had Marino. Teams almost never get rid of great QBs. How many great QBs have changed teams recently? I can think of one, Drew Brees. Teams do not get rid of good QBs. They need to be taken in the draft. Quinn would probably be ready by week 5 if he isn't right now. People say it's a risk but so is everyone else.

If the Browns take Peterson at three with their needs, especially at quarterback, Savage should be prosecuted for criminal incompetence. You can get a running back anywhere. You can get running backs as good as Peterson in the second, or third-rounds, even later then that. The position is the easiest to address, either via the draft, or free agency. It just makes no sense with the players available for the Browns to do that. There are premium players at quarterback, left tackle and pass-rushing end, and those are the positions you should be spending top-ten picks on. Running back is very deep, a Pro Bowl-caliber player will be available much later.

I guess the Browns want to let Frye and Anderson battle it out for the starting job. Running back is a position of need but they should take another position. Now you can get RBs in the 2nd and 3rd but nowhere near as good as Peterson will be. Hopefully if they pass on Peterson, they will not get a QB.

Running back is not deep this year, who else will be available later? Lynch will go round one, then what? The arguement could be made that QB is deeper this yar and they could take a guy like Stanton in round 2, especially if they want help now, a RB will do that before a rookie QB will, and the Peterson/Lewis tadem would be a pretty mean tandem.

Didn't the Bucs lose Simeon Rice? (correct me if I'm wrong) Wouldn't they be interested in Gaines Adams?
