Is anybody else out there sick of reading on this website about how we are going to get Chad Johnson, Donovan McNabb, or any other "superstar" for a 2nd round pick. The main rumor I've been reading is Chad Johnson. The Bengals cant cut or trade Chad Johnson because it would be an $8 million cap hit if they did. They just couldnt do it, even if they wanted to. The Bengals are already going to be reworking contracts trying to fit under next year's cap.
Ive also read a few threads about getting McNabb for a 2nd. I know he has been injured for the last few years but it would take more than a 1st round pick to get him.

The truth is, there arent really many trades when it comes to superstars in the NFL. When they switch teams it is because either they are cut or they become free agents.

And when next season starts and we havent traded for a superstar you can say that you read it here first.

we that's too bad buddy, get use to it. It doesn't hurt to speculate. Its the offseason.

I can understand where you are coming from. I don't really mind the trade talks as much as the talks to bring in a marquee player. It doesn't make any sense. This team did that with Joey Porter last year and got blasted for it and now people want to do it again. I just don't understand why.

I agree, if the trade talks can really happen then I dont mind reading the threads, but when you start talking about us trading for signing, Trufant, Samuels, Briggs, Suggs, Faneca, Adams, Hamlin, and Jesus Christ all in 1 offseason, then it gets really annoying...

When your team is as bevoid of talent as ours is, you have the Tuna running the show, the first pick in the draft, and a new regime (who will undoubtedly want to get their players in here) there will be trade rumors-galore going around. If you don't want to hear them, don't push the power button on the computer or watch ESPN...Put your Ipod in your ear and listen to your country and western collection, but don't watch, read or listen to public medias...

I'm feel bad for you if these rumors upset you because there will be one every other day or so circulating as the next "can't miss, the Fins don't need this guy, here is a rumor I heard from the janitors' 3nd cousin removed, whatever trade for the Fins... If you think it's bad now, wait until mid-April....

That said, most posters don't really look at all the angles of these rumors, particularly the financial hit that trades may take. And if, for example, with the Chad deal that he is bound to Cincy by the potential cap hit, it'll at least be a fun year in the press with all his complaining of still being in a Bungles uni...

But...if you don't want to hear these rumors....just tune it out...

I'm assuming with this guy's enormous skills, your planning on using him as a two way player. I don't know what we're gonna pay the guy though, its not like he's his brother keeper or anything. But, look on the brightside; his character won't be in question.

What else is there to talk about during the offseason? Would you rather us talk about like Matt Roths haircut? There;s nothing else to talk about and trades and free agency are what the offseason are about.

a) what would you like to talk about? It's the offseason...not much else to discuss other than trades, FA's draft.

b) your facts aren't even right on the Bengals and CJ. they are projected to be about 31 million under the cap next year....and while trading CJ could result in upwards of 8 million in dead money for 08, it would also result in them not owing him his 4.25 million salary so the NET effect would be only -4 million (approx). The cost would not be prohibitive and you can expect him to be traded (but probably not here)

I am quite the opposite. I love trade talk in the offseason. It keeps me fired up heading into the draft.

like everyone else is saying it is the off season. That doesn't mean we need to start a new thread about CJ everyday day thou or anyone else for that matter. :beer1:

And the thread starters are quite mis-leading at times..., "rabbit trail"

Rumors are going to run rampant REGARDLESS of what you, I or anyone else thinks. All it takes is one person for a rumor to spread like wildfire, and you know by the time it reaches the millionth person the rumor will be completely distorted (starts out as Chad Johnson, and whoa wait a minute....we're really getting Magic Johnson! He's coming out of retirement and switching sports just so he can play for Parcells!!) . The actual PROSPECTS of possibly bringing a really good player in is intriguing and people like to think of the possibilities of how that particular player can make the team better. It's natural to do and exciting to think about....I mean c'mon it's now the offseason and there isn't a whole lot to do otherwise.....let the rumors flow like wine!
