Which route do you guys think is a better option if you MUST choose one????

1. Signing a FA ILB and Drafting a NT?

OR

2. Signing a FA NT and Drafting a ILB?

Personally I think we should go with Option 2 although everyone around here wants a FA ILB such as Dansby. While I do want Dansby...I would much rather have Franklin from the 49ers or even Wilfork. The NT position is much harder to fill than the ILB through the draft. Plus ILB can be a immediate impact postion out of the draft. You will be hard pressed though to find a NT will step in as a rookie and perform right away. Its just the nature of the beast.

I would rather have choice 2 but if Crowder does leave then we will have a big mess this offseason. I can see McClain being taken before us and us trading down and taking Spikes in the high 2nd. There's just something about Spikes that i have a feeling Parcells will take him. Although Spikes is a WAY better player than crowder was in college

Sign a FA NT, Draft 3 linebackers, a FS, and Cam Thomas.

Not even close, #2. Sign the best available NT and draft some ILB's. It's a much easier transition for ILB's than NT's from college to the pros. But if no FA NT's are available then go hard after Dansby and then draft a NT or two.

Hitting on a good inside line backer is easier than NT in the draft simply because of quantity alone. There are many good linebackers in each draft every year

I agree, however I don't expect there will be any NTs available once Free Agency begins. So I'd go after Dansby and draft 2 NTs. In fact, even if one of the NTs do enter Free Agency and we are able to sign him, I'd still draft a NT to compete with Soliai and carry 3 NTs on the roster. Its such a crucial position that I feel we need more than just 2 on the roster, like we did this year.

That's why I put if there are any available, I could easily see everyone that potentially could hit FA (Franklin for sure, Wilfork for sure, Hampton, Pickett) get re-signed before March 5th. So then we're only left with signing the best available position in FA which might very well be K.Dansby.

I also agree that we should draft two NT's, 1 in the 2nd/3rd round and 1 late round pick. P.Solai is a FA next year so we would be covering our butts doing so.

Sign Hampton and then Draft Rolando.

I would be one very happy man if this scenario happened.

Im also for drafting Rolando in the first and then Mt. Cody in the 2nd.

Both positions will be drafted, there is no way Big Tuna will spend big dollars in ANY player, we all know that.
