I hate to see junior go, but recognize that his talents are declining and that injuries make him a risk. However, I think Miami should offer to keep him around as a linebacker coach. He could certainly help develop some of the younger guys and it would be great to keep his energy, enthusiasm and work-ethic in Miami.

Why? Because he's old and good at his position?

Experience doesnt make good coaching. Veteran leadership does not make good coaching. Good coaching makes good coaching.

Seau doesnt strike me as a good coach, talking constantly about "******s" this, and "*****" that.

Nice idea, but there is a protocol in NFL coaching...you gotta go thru the process...and for Jr., that means: 1) a 1-day sign/retire with the Chargers; and b) a first ballot selection into the HOF. In between, there's the restaurant (Seau's), the nightclubs and facetime on various net's (NFL/CBS, etc.). Coaching...that's almost 'light-years' away.(imho)

They are already talking about him playing here on the radio in the right situation with the Chargers.

i disagree with the above comment of coaching makes coaching....if you have never picked up a pigskin how will you ever know how to coach it....if you have never looked accros the huddle in your teammates eyes and saw a determined group that wouldnt take **** from anyone, how the hell do you know what it takes to get through to these guys....you dont just wake up one day pick up a book that says football 101 and say hey i think i might try to coach this thing callled foozball...most of these coaches in the NFL in fact were former players and good ones at that....you cannot coach something that you have not experienced its impossible...thats just like me saying boy i like stars maybe ill teach space travel...C'mon man think about what you say before you post Seau may or may not be a good coach but i can tell you one thing he would demand respect and be one hell of a motivator....

Why should Seau be hired on as a coach, because his playing days are over in Miami? Last I checked we`ve got the largest coaching staff in the league, I`m sure we`ll be fine if Junior isn`t added to it.

Who are you talking to bro?

the thread. The entire idea of players becoming coaches right away comes from Madden.

I think what people are saying is keep is energy with the team. He can help the younger linebackers, and perhaps work with the second stringers to ensure they are ready in case of an injury.

Junior has already shown good coaching habits in the way he helped other players (most recently Crowder) learn the position of LB. He would make a great coach. Do the Dolphins need him? Probably not. But if he has a desire to coach you can bet some lucky NFL team will pick him up.

As one of the great leaders in the NFL and a future hall of famer, I'm sure he'd have the players respect. I don't know for sure if he'd make a good coach, but he seems to have the qualities that you'd look for -- determination, preparation etc. Guys could learn from him so why not?

We can speculate whether or not he would make a good coach or not, but it comes down to whether he even wants to be a coach right now. Last I heard (end of last season), he said he still wanted to play football and that he thought it would be with a different team in 2006. I don't see him even wanting to be a coach.
