Simple game plan this week

BECAUSE ITS NOT THAT EASY. and its why we wanted to run wanny out of town. you cant run on a good defense with 8 and 9 guys in the box. you have to show you can burn that defense in the passing game to back up the safeties and we cant do that. say the pats go 5 wide and get a couple early scores and we are trying to pound the ball. we'll get blown out. hell, we may get blown out anyway because we cant throw the ball.

Does anybody really put NINE in the box? I'd think a quick slant would go for a TD with 9 in the box. Now if it's 8 in the box I say run on them anyway most of the time. You can't go into the game with the mentality that we have no running game if we're facing 8 in the box. We have to develop the mind-set that we can run AT WILL.

I agree. Run the ball on offense (open up a few play action passes). On defense, PRESSURE Brady. I swear that offense will fold if you can get to Brady. We need at least 3 or 4 sacks and an INT.

Guys... we have to throw some against the Pats. That's been their weakness this year, big plays downfield against their D. I wish I could be more confident we can exploit that.

On the other hand, I'm encouraged by the Bills-Pats game - Buffalo ran on them pretty well, and I wouldn't rate the Bills' running game better than ours.

Just please, please ... if we manage to get into a position where the game is on the line, let's win or lose with Ronnie or Ricky, not another Gus pass.

if we run the ball 40 times...christ even 35 times we will lose!

If we don't spread their defense out and open it up we will lose. This isn't the BIG 12 where you can get away running the ball all game. The talent is just too good on this level. Ronnie can get his 20 carries. Ricky can get his 7-10 carries, but if we don't try and get the ball to McMichael and Chambers we will get killed.

I disagree with this. You can't advertise the run and expect to be successful with it. But when you have two strong backs like Ronnie & Ricky, you can give them LOTS of carries in a game and be successful. I don't know about 40 carries. 30-35 sounds more reasonable. 20 runs for Ronnie and 10 for Ricky. And Frerotte needs to be at around 20-25 passes.

Like I said before, run the ball and open up a few play action passes for Gus.

While we're game-planning here, can we please come up with an actual running play or two when Ricky and Ronnie are both on the field? It was a bit embarrassing when the freakin' TV network posted stats during the game about how you know a pass is coming when they are both in the play.

I think I have it. What about a screen play? The defense will think pass when they are in. They will rush the passer, drop back in coverage and... BOOM. Dumped screen pass to Ricky or Ronnie.
