In his career, Boulware has consistantly been able to get after the quarterback. There are few players in the league that have as much explosivness coming off of the edge. While he is a pass rushing demon, Boulware has improved his pass defense. Still, Boulware needs to improve his run defense to be considered the best strongside linebacker in the game.
Peter Boulware attended Florida State University. A hard-hitting outside linebacker, Boulware racked up 52 sacks in his first five years in the league.

Peter Boulware Facts: Peter Boulware entered the NFL Draft after his Junior Year at FSU... Peter was Baltimore's first-round selection in the 1997 NFL Draft forth pick overall... Won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 1997... In his Junior Year Peter Boulware was a first-team All-American selection and was named National Defensive Player of the Year by Football News as a junior and was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year and All-ACC... With 19 QB sacks, Peter shattered the Seminole's all-time mark of 12 held by Ron Simmons in 1977... Peter first Pro Bowl in 1998 was as a "Need" Player, after being voted a first alternate... Boulware in the Pro Bowl, 1998, 1999, 2002 & 2003(Did not play knee injury)... Ed Block Courage Award Winner... Brother Michael will be drafted in 2004...

Peter Boulware 2004 Raven Facts: Peter missed the entire Season due to his knee injury he suffered at the end of 2003...

Peter Boulware 2005 Raven Facts: Boulware should be able to attend Training Camp this year, but there has been talk that he may be traded, stay tuned...

Keith Newman
Earlier in his career with Buffalo, it appeared that Keith Newman was headed to be a solid starter for years to come. However, his play waned in the 2002 season and the Bills decided not to bring him back. The Vikings were his third team in three years when he signed with them in 2004. He is best used as a situational rush outside linebacker.

2004: Started the final 14 games for the Vikings when it was apparent to the coaches that they had too much youth at the position. Recorded 71 tackles, including three for losses and 3.5 sacks. Has started 66 of the 78 games he has played.

Previous years: Spent 2003 with Atlanta after playing four years in Buffalo. Through 2004, had 20 career sacks.

College: Played at the University of North Carolina.

Boulware is one of my favorite players of all time, but he's done.

Exactly...we will just draft another 3rd round stud LB like Crowder last year....why overpay for the sorry FA linebackers who are on the downside.

Thats very true. There are no real star linebackers left in FA so it is pretty obvious that Saban is gonna draft an LB in the early rounds Which I'm quite happy with cuz this year there are a lot of quality linebackers, one of the best LB drafts in a while.

If Saban signs anything else in FA it might be a DT to takeover for aging Keith Traylor. Has anyone heard anything about Gary Walker? I remember hearing about him and then nothing.

Has every-one forgotten how good Sharper is when hes healthy. He isn't that old itherthat way we can draft Witner wit or first

Wel I think there is one guy in free agency that could be a contributing player without breaking the bank.

Tommy Polley (Balt) Started 15 games for Balt last year and had some really good games. He would be better than the majortity of rookie linebackers. He showed a decent propensity to get to the QB lasy year with 4 sacks.

Among the players mentioned above Boulware would be the better fit. But, we ain't going after him. If Saban wants another OLB he will get it in the draft. But, our LBs are fine. And, I disagree with the sentiment we are set at Safety. We really need more additions at NT and S then LB. But, what do we as fans know? That is why Saban / Mueller get paid the big bucks to analyze needs and prioritize what is best for the team. Still fun speculating behind a computer......

He'd be a nice pickup for the right price. I'd look to him after the draft if we don't land Sims, Wimbley, Lawson, etc.
