In light of recent offensive lineman stupidity, what would yas think of tendering an offer to Ross Verba? If I recall, his phone probably hasn't been ringing since November or so, and while he's not the best tackle in the game, he's still pretty darned good. Coupling him up with Houck could fill a pressing need at LT.

What say you?

Yeah...I wouldn't have as much of a problem with the money as the clubhouse impact.

But like you said, it makes ya go, "hmmmmmmmmm."
 
What was the deal with him? I know he wanted more money but was their more to it than that?

If I recall correctly, the negotiations went somethign like this:

Verba: I want more noney.

Browns: No.

Verba: Well, then I'll hold out.

Browns: Okay, since you said that, we're gonna sign someone in case you do just that.

Verba: How insulting! Pay me what I want or release me!

Browns: Okay. How about you give us back that bonus we gave you last month, and we'll do just that.

Verba: Fine!

Browns: Fine!

Verba might not be bad. An ex Iowa guy. He has always been pretty decent.
Who knows he might want to go to a team on upswing.
 
might not be a bad idea to pick up Verba on the cheap if we can and let HH have a whack at him, given our lack of tackle depth and DMac's legal problems (and the fact that we were probably gonna cut him anyway). He prob wont be a superstar, but he oughta be solid enough to be good competition for Vernon.
