This will be a strange coaching tenure because its the first one in the long time in which we expect the HC to have a horrible 1st year and not be at all competitive AND be waiting to get franchise QB in Year 2. That alters the timeline of success significantly.

So what would you expect from the team in Year 3 under the new coach with that in mind? Playoff appearance. Division title? Playoff win? And what would cause you to move on from him after Year 3?

like I keep saying, I'm no fan of tanking anyway. We won 7 games with Gase and his ego and a team full of backups. Its not like we really suck. Imagine if we had all of our starters, we may have gone 10-6. Say Richard is our HC, I think he can get us into playoffs first year.

But it won't be the same team. They are expected to purge most of their veterans and overpaid players.

This thread is hilarious because every time a new coach comes in, year three is supposed to be some watershed where the team actually does something— win the division, have a deep playoff run, get to the Super Bowl.

But, as we’ve seen, usually the team just stays moored in place and we all just have to lump it. If Gase hadn’t been such an ass, he’d be back next year, still tied at the hip to Tannehill, and year four would be the same mediocre garbage year three was.

I’ll believe this team is going places when I see it, not before.

Playoffs year 3. That’s assuming stud QB drafted in year 2 takes his lumps that season.

The metric changes if we acquire a competent starting veteran QB somehow.

I'd be happy if we had a majority of the players drafted, from each draft class with the new coach, starting on the team and improving. I'm not even thinking about playoffs. Sure, playoffs would be nice but....improvement over constant mediocrity is better. If that occurs for 3 straight years....we're looking at playoffs in year 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 & so on of the new coaches career with the Dolphins.

Draft Kyler Murray this year. Let the chips fall where they may in 2019 with your new QB.

We will most likely start purging our veteran talent over the next two years. this will open up draft capital to move up and select a qb in either year 2 or 3. Guys like Jones, mcdonald, and Alonso will not be on the teams this year.

I would not be surprised if we traded down this year and picked up a first next year to do so. The prize is the quarterback.

In regards to the playoffs....lol. this weekend showed you better have a good quarterback that can grind and get the win when it matters. You think we can just back into the playoffs with tannehill and then win in a hostile environment. Good luck with that.

It's not going to suck when we tank and grab Lawrence or tua and the team is set for the next 15 years. We had this chance with Andrew luck and let our pride hurt pur chances. Meanwhile the Colts were drooling about going from manning to luck. That's why we need to tank

I don’t really think this team is that far off. They already starting the purge last year with cutting Suh/Pouncey not signing Landry. I would expect to make the playoffs in the next two years.

I don't think this team is that far off. We need add some more pieces. We are better than Jets, bills. Not N.E because they are well run team. Talent is not that much different but coaches and QB is. dolphins need good coach first. They need draft better. They need learn how keep good players and when let them go when they start declining. Dolphins is not bad team so stop listening to them jack ass on ESPN.

This franchise has fallen so far that at this point, I will settle for the following by the end of year three:

- The players have not outright quit on the coach
- The team is showing improvement rather than in complete free fall
- The coach isn't part of a public power struggle with the VP of Football Operations
- I can turn on a Dolphins game and actually want to watch it from start to finish

"This team is not far off" is the mentality that has us going 7-9 to 9-7 every year.

Fire sale this mother ****er...everything is on the tables...I'm offering anyone and everybody for picks...Wilson, Stills, Jones, TJ, Howard, the Cheerleaders, Dan Marino, a signed 72 Czonk Jersey.

Oh yeah, this is coach expectations for year 3...better then year 2.
