*This is not my normal Power ranking Thread, Look for that on Thursday or Friday.

Around the end of last season I started thinking about coming up with my own power ranking system.

Most of the rankings are based on opinion, others a formula, some both. I thought I would come up with a ranking system that was based purely on team performance. No hype, no strength (or lack of) schedule etc. but purely on how the team performs during games throughout the season.

So here is my first set of rankings starting with week 2. I don't do week one because a real game had yet to be played. I expect these rankings to fluxuate greatly the first few weeks so don't be surprised if you see a big change next Tuesday.

Broncos at 11, ahead of chargers? Cincinatti ahead of the Bears and Browns? even though the Broncos won, they should be below 20 IMO. There was no power in the way they played

Not to bring it back up again, but didnt you argue with me that relying on statistics, which are mathematical rankings, is dumb and called me out for doing it? So you only use that arguement [relying on stats us dumb] when it fits the arguement you are trying to win.. Ill accept that you agree with me now that, mathematical rankings, ie, statistical rankings are fact.

The Broncos won didnt they. Do you really care about showing 'power' . I will take any win.

So, what statistics do you use and how?

I'm just a bit . . . stupefied . . .

Probably the worst PR list I've ever seen.

I agree Denver is wayy to high. Not sure if you watched the game, but it was amazing on how they had no "RED ZONE" trips and still won the game. That is what you call LUCK.

Like I said in the beginning. I am trying something different from the usual ranking systems out there. Most of them are good but have alot to do with perception (which I dont mind at all and have my thursday threads based on them).

I am trying to treat each team eaqually, just becasue everyone says so and so team sucks and doesnt have star talent, doesn't automatically mean they go to the bottom of the list or if a team is supposed to be stellar and is top loaded with super stars doesn't mean they automatically go to the top.

Like I also said, as the season goes on, I'm hoping the rankings properly measure a teams standing in the league.

Its a new system so we'll just have to wait and see if it is a bad idea or not.

yeah, the chargers won too, so did the colts, the steelers, the 49ers the patriots, and all in more convincing fashion than Denver.. So explain to me again why are the broncos rated higher than those teams?

im not using these rankings to base who i think is the best teams... but its interesting to look at...

i dont judge a player purely on their stats, but it doesn't mean i dont look at them... i judge players and teams based on how i see them play... but the other stuff is still interesting to see

a fluke bounce off a Bengal defender ranks them 22nd and the Broncos 11th?? beat that drum in outer space.

The Broncos deserve much lower. If you looked up "fluke" in the dictionary you would see Brandon Stokley's catch right next to it.

Let me get this straight. You are stating an opinion about a purely mathematical ranking system. Strange :err:
