They are saying if Parcells can move this pick they should give him part of the franchise because there is No team that will pay the Money for

Long
Long
McFadden
Dorsey
Ellis

It was stated the Dal stuff is a smokescreen to get Barber signed cheaply

And who is they and how do they know anymore than anybody else at this point?

Scott Wetzel and Gil Brandt on Late Hits.

Gil did state that He Talked to Jones and there is no way Barber is included in any trade and that he cannot see Phins moving the pick because of the money involved with it.

I have been saying that since day one but people want to dream. let em dream. Who knows maybe Santa Claus actually exists

Doing poorly in a season and having a relatively high pick (e.g. 5-10) is a good thing, and can really help a team get better.

Doing the worst in a season and having the top pick screws you further. :)

man something needs to be done about the way things a ran in the NFL Rookie Draft because there is no way a guy right out of college is worth 30 million guaranteed money no freakin way. As a matter of fact no one playing a child's game professionally should be worth that much money.

Many people are beginning to finally come around to your point, I just wonder if it will be changedanytime soon.

only if they end up like Tom Brady or Peyton Manning or Brett Farve or Danny Marino.

They should do like the NBA does and cap the spending on rookie contracts. Soon it's going to get to the point where teams won't be able to sign the first draft pick because they don't have the cap space or the player will be signed to a ridiculously long contract to spread it out over multiple years. It probably won't happen though because Gene Upshaw wants to be like Donal Fehr.

I think it would be pretty funny if the Dolphins, or some future team with the first overall pick let their pick go by and pick a few later, ala Minnesota, citing monetary concerns.

Is it possible for Miami to let the clock run out at the number 1 pick thus allowing St Louis to make the first selection in the draft? This would be similar to what I believe Minnesota did some years back.

It seems to me that the time is approaching for a team with the #1 pick like the Fins to negotiate with a bunch of players and see which one/ones bite on a reasonable contract, and make a selection based upon that. This is kind of an extreme example, but what if a player like Ryan Clady, a top 10-15 talent, agreed to a contract for half or less of what these top guys want- is the 1st overall pick cost effective when a mega talent isn't there to be had, or is it a cap crushing headache? Probably the latter. I'm still pulling for Jake Long, but at Joe Thomas type money, not Jamarcus Russell money.

The NFL natives are getting restless regarding this whole situation, maybe Parcells will be the guy to think outside the box on this one.

Here's the story from: www.thephinsider.com

As the Combine comes to a finish and the beginning of free agency approaches, let's see what's people are talking about.
MORE ON POTENTIAL COWBOYS/DOLPHINS SWAP
If seems like these two teams just love stealing from each other. First, the Dolphins stole almost their entire coaching staff. Then the Cowboys signed Zach Thomas. And now we can't seem to get away from the trade rumors regarding the Cowboys and Miami's #1 pick.
So what's the latest? I was listening to Gil Brandt on Sirius NFL Radio, which by the way is a great investment, and he shared some thoughts on the topic. He said that he spent a lot of time with Jerry Jones at the Combine and that Jones wouldn't stop talking about Darren McFadden. However, Jones also feels that there are some other good running backs to be had in this year's draft class. Brandt also said that Jones all but guaranteed him that the Cowboys wouldn't be trading both of their first rounders.
Brandt then went on to talk about how he thinks it would be nearly impossible for the Dolphins to trade out of the #1 pick. This is because of, what else, money. He believes that there isn't really a team out there that would want to trade up to #1 in order to give the player, whoever it may be (Ryan, McFadden, Long, Long, or Dorsey), the kind of guaranteed money that the top pick will demand this year.
Then Brandt threw out an idea that the consistent rumors about the Cowboys potentially including Marion Barber in this trade with Miami is a ploy Dallas which they hope will bring down Barber's asking price. Remember, Barber is a restricted free agent and the Cowboys are believed to be trying to sign him to a long term deal rather than just a one year tender. Again, though, this is just speculation on Brandt's part. What all this tells me is what I've been saying all along, and that is that I'd be shocked if the Dolphins and Cowboys reach a deal for the #1 pick.

Against NFL rules, not to mention the agent would still demand #1 money.

It's early yet...let the combine and the future pro-days sink in...and then you'll see that certain teams will trade.

Teams like Atlanta...K.C. and the Cowboys have to trade...Atlanta for Ryan...K.C. for J. Long and the obvious for the Cowboys...McFadden. And don't think for a minute that the Bears are happy with their QB's...they may not trade up...but you can bet the ranch they are going to select a QB...in the 2nd round, maybe even trade back up in the late first...when you sign two QB's to one year contracts...you don't have faith in any of them.

By the way...for those that don't think Jerry Jones doesn't want McFadden...Jerry knows his days are numbered...he wants a winner...so much it's rumored he's going after Moss...if he goes after moss...the final piece is McFadden.
Put Owens, Moss and McFadden on that offense...and he has the chance of one of the greatest offense's ever.

I think starting 2011...agents will be a dying breed. The owners want out of the cap...and they will start with the rookies coming out of the draft...my guess is they are tired of paying out of site money to the drafted players...they will change that.
