The nugget on SirVincent is towards the end of the report.

I just thought it was interesting that he would be playing LEFT Tackle with the 2nd team b/c I thought that's where they would have Andrew Gardner playing given Gardner's wealth of experience at LT for Georgia Tech.

The report doesn't say where Gardner is lining up but it has...

1st string: Long-Smiley-Grove-Frye-Carey
and
2nd string: Rogers-Murphy-Berger-Ndukwe-????

I'm guessing Gardner might have been the 2nd team RT. The report also mentioned that Quinn is playing 3rd team C.

Anyway, with all the interest in following Henne vs. White, the new WRs Turner, Hartline, Marion, the new DBs, Cameron Wake and the return of JT, I think the most important part of the team to be paying attention to is really the OL.

SirVincent was supposedly rated as a 3rd round type prospect until knee injuries derailed him.

Gardner has a very impressive college resume too.

I'm hopeful for these guys and will be interested to see who sticks between them vs. the pack of OGs we have.

Overall, our biggest problem last year was clearly interior OL and as of now, we still have a huge question at RG.

Anyway, big thanks to the Queen of England for giving SirVincent Rogers the "Sir". :chuckle:

most interesting thing i saw on that report was: Cameron Wake is running third team in passing situations but had a good moment when he made LT Jake Long look bad on one play. Long had less-than-stellar technique on that play but was otherwise solid as usual.

If Big Jake gets hurt ( *knocking on wood he doesn't), Vernon Carey would move over to LT and someone else would play RT.

I don't think this is a big deal at all. It's just a formality and I wouldn't even look too much in their #1's, Two's and Three's during May OTA's.

Huh, well its nice to know that Wake has made one of the top lineman in the NFL look silly for at least a play. I was starting to get a litttttle worried. Although it isnt really saying too much because apparently the pass rushers have a HUGE advantage over O-Line when they arent in pads because they're much more agile and quick

Yeah - I don't think it's a big deal as far as the OT depth chart but I'm just wondering / interested to see if our backup OT (SirVincent and Andrew Gardner) may be better than our OG depth (Frye, Murphy, Ndukwe, Berger, etc.)?

I hate when people say that it just erks me

About not reading too much into the lineups?

I understand I guess, but it's entirely true. I mean, this time of year they are shuffling the lines around every single day, bumping this guy up to first team, this guy to second or third, moving this guy to left tackle on second team, then right tackle on third team, etc.

It would be nice if Wake were to come in and tear it up from the get go.

However, I was not expecting this to be the case. It IMO may take anywhere from half to all of this season for Wake to get up to "NFL speed".

Does anybody have a scouting report on SirVincent Rogers, I couldn't find one.

Well the key word I believe on this years phin team will be interior weather it be offense or defense. That is where I see the weak links where a key injury could hurt us quickly and based on last years results when the phins had a bad game. Running between the tackles was difficult for us especially later in the year when Smily got hurt and I assume after Samson S hurt his shoulder. Granted we have a bit of a new cast with Grove but much of the same supporting cast is back but they do have a year under their belts which should certainly help and hopefully a new better OL coach. As far as defense we got run over a few games later with Lnagford and Merling in the lineup and "hopefully" again a year makes a difference.
Now without coming out just all negative in a post I do find it is pretty amazing to me how much more "projected" depth we have now compared to the same positions last year in just about all the other areas especailly the secondary, tight end, running backs, outside linebackers, wide receiver and QB's. Compared to this same time last year we have made light years of progress!
