ut over the weekend, he delivered good news: Eight weeks into his rehab he is now several weeks ahead of schedule, with a target of returning to the field by September, and reiterated Monday during an NFL Network interview that not only does he feel good but that his meetings with teams went just the same.
"The interviews for the most part were trying to understand my football knowledge, talking about leadership, your background, definitely the injury, how it happened, how am I going and when do I see my ideal time coming back," Ekpre-Olomu said on the broadcast. "I feel for the most part I did great job in the interviews so far and all the coaches were real impressed."

Without the injury, he may of been a top 10 pick. Very good corner.

If he checks out physically, I think you have to consider him. He was probably higher rated than Kevin Johnson who I have seen going anywhere from the late first round to the late second round. Ekpre-Olomu is a tough little CB, and good tackler. He and Grimes would be sweet.

Love the player...small, but tough, will come up and make plays.

The injury news here sounds like a weak attempt by he and his agent to try and dispel fears that have taken root about his injuries probably resulting in a redshirt rookie campaign.

I feel for the kid because I think he's clearly a top corner if healthy. But when he says that the target is to get back on the field by September, that tells me he probably starts out the year on PUP, and may very well land on IR from there.

A rookie with no training camp, no preseason, that first makes his appearance on your practice fields trying to learn your defense once you're already in season-mode, installing game plans and whatnot...again I feel for the guy but this doesn't do anything to allay my fears that 2015 is basically a redshirt for him.

I'd still consider him in the 2nd round and especially the 3rd if Miami had a pick there, but if you're in the position of needing immediate contribution from your draft picks then you're just not going to be one of those teams that could afford to take a luxury pick.

I just think that the injury news sounds a little weak to me. It sounds agent/PR driven and it doesn't do anything to dispel my concerns that 2015 is a redshirt for him.

take him and sit on him if need be...doubt he gets to your 4th regardless of the outlook for 2015...should easily be scooped at the latest by one of those compensatory 3rd round contender teams so they can add to their talent stable

be proactive not reactive...you get your 3rd rounder back jump...i dont hate it at 47 either in fact i just think miami is gonna look for ready from the get go with top 50 picks...

i agree with the sentiments though that you can't really read much into what he's saying right now...

We took Jason Allen in the middle of the first round and he never really panned out. He wasn't a total bust, but he wasn't worth a mid-first rounder. I think Ekpre-Olomu is worth a second rounder, but only Trae Wayne's is worth the 14th pick, if we take a CB.
