Smiley talking about us being a playoff team and others mentioning the Superbowl. Are these guys dumb or what??!!! Play one damn game at a time. I am afraid these guys are going to get overconfident and that will come back to haunt us. Shut up about the playoff and Superbowl talk already. After all, we are the same team that was slaughtered by the Cardinals a few weeks ago!!!!

90% of this forum are talking the same way. They arent looking past anyone tho, they are just looking for respectand know they don't have it yet, but in time it will come.
 
Well, to be fair they get paid millions and are all pro's. Meaning any team in the NFL should be a Super Bowl contender...Keyword "should." So no, I'm glad they are thinking that. Nothing is impossible
 
Isn't is good that the players are confident and expect to win. I doubt anyone week 4 last year would be talking like they even expect to win the next game, let alone make the playoffs.
 
Sparano told the guys to stay humble, so talking about playoffs and the Superbowl is NOT being humble. Maybe Coach Sparano or Parcells needs to tell some of these guys to put a sock in it.
 
Excuse me? Do you think they play for the approval for your sentiments? They play to win games. THEY are on the field. YOU are not. After beating to very good football clubs they are feeling pretty good about themselves. Smiley wasn't apart of the 1-15 team that YOU were watching.

Personally I dont think that way, but look at the standings of the nfl and count how many 2-2 teams there are. Think about who we just beat. And you see why they shouild think that way. Because I for one don't want a single player taking that field with the mindset to stink up the field because "we're not supposed to be that good". We're we have 2 wins. Like the COLTS, and the CHARGERS, and a HOST of other CONTENDERS.

Nothing wrong with feeling good about themselves.
 
Did I say they couldn't feel good about themselves??!!! I never said that. I said they need to stop the Superbowl and playoff talk until we actually get there.
 
wait, so every team doesnt start out belieing they are going to go to the superbowl? isnt that what you DO? ...if you only want to be less, than you will be. Last years team had no confidence, look where that got them.
 
I like the swagger, and these guys deserve to feel good and talk the talk. I walk around my office all day screaming "I rule!" and I do.
 
I have seen many idiotic posts and none of them are idiotic based of the fans expecting a winning team but stupid comments nevertheless. We have lost so many games to the point where our once proud franchise has been nothing but a loser parade.
 
Eh, they're professionals as well as grown men. let em talk. They just have to go out and back it up.

I agree with your basic premise. The Dolphins should feel proud about their 2008 accomplishments, but most NFL coaches don't want to hear their troops talking about the playoffs and Super Bowl in the first week of October. I hope Sparano is one of them.

i tend to agree with the 'you have to walk before you run' philosophy myself. no need to get ahead of ourselves.
 
Which other players said these things? I watched almost every interview and like almost every player said Sparano's words, humble, disciplined, and tough, and spoke in that manner.

Smiley is playing good football though, so i'm not gonna be too upset about him speaking with confidence, even if its excessive.
