Just want to through this bone out there if not already done so ...
Does a Smiley Trade possible correlate to a Otogwe trade/RFA offer ???
What we know ... The front office doesnt like to loss picks, unless they get something better in returen (4th Rd/Aydole, Fasano trade). So if the Trifecta say pulls off a Smiley for a 3, 4 or even 5th rd trade ... would that make available to option to now include a later round pick 6/7th for Otogwe.
I say this b/c compensation is not required but they have the right to first refusal ... so say they sign him to a deal with a trade attached to STL to not match the deal. They get something in return knowing that they possible might not if the RFA deal is to high/poison pill is involved.
We can then sign him to a more performance based contract while he recovers (say three years backload). While he recovers ... Groom Culver and Clemons during Voluntary/OTA training.
This lessons the need to draft a FS so high (it doesnt eliminate it but it does lesson the immediate need)..... Now if Berry is there or we trade down and Thomas is still available (& is the BPA), then thats different.
What do yall think ...
Side note ... RE-Sign Taylor and get it over with (You did it with Pennington and Ferge) and lets not mention our LB core wasnt that productive as a whole ... and Rookie is going to have a learning curve and we know the terrible Training Camp injury bugs that can always come up.
