Smiley pedals, Wed afternoon report

Starting left guard Justin Smiley spent much of Wednesday’s afternoon workout pedaling a stationery bike while Brandon Frye took the majority of snaps with the first team in his spot.
Smiley had his season ended by leg injuries incurred in the St. Louis game on Nov. 30 but had participated in every practice prior to sitting out this one.

The difference between Thomas and Murphy is extreme. Our G depth might be less terrible than our T depth but they are both issues.

Armando just reported that it is likely a minor issue with Smiley and that he actually was trying to convince the oline coach to let him back in the practice, but got waved off. Probably something minor. Nothing to go "oh crap" over.

they've had a good look at murphy. they're looking at frye now. it isn't time to panic.

In all seriousness though, an injury along this line wouldn't be the end of the world, but it certainly wouldn't help.

....then we'd have to resort to "trickery" again...and the media pundits didn't like that the first time around.
