Smith Looks To Corner The Opposition

Dansby is grossly overpaid at this point and Smith has shown that he hasn't the speed to keep up with quick receivers in this league. He needs to play smart and be in position more often. For such a big guy he's as soft as they come. Never presses anyone for more than a split second. It's just laughable that at 6'3 you can't handle a light weight 5' 10 slot receiver with ease.

He needs to man up or Marshall will be taking his spot.

smith doesn't have the feet or the quick twitch abilities that those little quick wrs have...he gets off balance and has to take false or extra steps and with those guys and the quickness and cod and hips they possess he's toast...gives free inside releases to anyone which means he's always trailing...more a package specialty player than a high end every down one...if someone gives him $10 mil per to play boundary cb in free agency they're nuts...

he's too long to ever play a legit boundary cb...asomugha is that rarest of rare exception and he wasn't great in 2011 anyways...

Smith was absolutely awful last year. Unless he shows some serious improvements in camp, I wouldn't want the guy starting at CB: a position that generally requires one to be able to defend against the pass. Rather, I'm interested to see what they do with Richard Marshall. Has anyone heard of any updates on this guy?

Both Smith and Davis are going into their 4th year. IMO we have seen from them what they will be going forward. Smith is an average, decent corner while Davis is a slightly above average corner. IMO neither will ever become elite. They will make plays here and there and follow those up with bad plays, and that will keep them from reaching elite status.

But he was absolutely dominate for 6 years before playing with Philly.

Well...Our coaching staff previously wasn't very good at anything related to developing players.

Our new DC made Wilson and Croker and even Nelson look very very good last year..

That's my point. He doesn't have the speed. He has to play smart and use his size and weight to jam his receivers at the line.

If you know you're going to get burned then grab your man at the line and man handle him. He doesn't play physical AT ALL!

smiths got bigger issues than just speed...agility and balance...average feet for the position...etc...lacks recovery speed and quick acceleration...

I am sick of smith talking. He doesnt cover well and his tackling is terrible. He just dives at people feet or trys to grab onto a jersey. I dont think i ever seen him stick his face into a tackle and wrap his arms around a ball carrier.

I meant game speed(reaction, timing, recovery, acceleration, agility, quickness) and/or track speed. He doesn't have any of it.

He does has size... just doesn't use it.
