i was watching in interview from the senior bowl when mayock was interviewing Ireland and jeff pretty much said were looking for a nosetackle...

sorry if this has been discussed already

We prolly will run a 3-4. But yeah we do need a NT, and if we can get Shaun Rogers from DET, wow then would that be great.

4-3 to 3-4 back to 4-3 and now again for the fourth change in 4 years we are looking to go 3-4...

Oh well, I just hope this coaching staff knows what its doing more than the last few have.

i actually miss the hybrid we ran under Saban, our D was dominant. i hope we do somthing like that again. i like showing lots of looks on deffense becuz to win our devision we have to beat NE and thats what it takes to beat them.. keeping brady uneasy

unless we get some depth in our defense, we might be running both jsut to give people rests at times.... both spots D-Line and LB

might be good for a play or two but we are still gonna need a NT to fill in when Rogers takes a play off and he has to be good because he will get a lot of playing time, since rogers take almost every other play. dont get me wrong i like rogers but he needs some endourance to be in for a whole drive at a time

No not really. We talked a lot about running a 3-4, but we never did. We ran a 4-3 almost the entire time. The fact of the matter is that our personnel was alwasy geared to a 4-3, and even when we talked about running a 3-4, that's all it was, talk, we ran a 4-3 the whole time.

Traylor played the stout run defending DT, and Carter played the strong end. Holiday played the quick DT and Jason Taylor played the pass rushing DE. You could call Taylor an OLB, but he didn't really play that way. He was on the line the whole time, and why not, he's great at it. He shouldn't be dropping back into coverage, and if he's going to be rushing the passer or pushing at the point of attack, it just makes more sense to put him in a down stance.

Our linebackers were pretty typical of a 4-3. In a 3-4 the linebackers make all the big plays really, but even if you consider Jason Taylor an OLB, we didn't have another OLB in the sense of a 3-4. Our playmakers were our DE's, which is mainly because our best talent was there on the D line.

That being said, I firmly believe that Parcells & Co. WILL switch us over to a 3-4. I definitely see us drafting Red Bryant from Texas A&M in the 3rd round or some other big (both tall and heavy) strong massive NT. I definitely think we'll be adding a bunch of new linebackers over the next 2 years, this season replacing Zach and possibly one other linebacker, and the following year 1 or 2 more. Remember, Parcells was/is basically a defensive sided coach, his specialty is linebackers, and he's going to rebuild this franchise using the principles he espouses and he hired the people who knew and agreed with his systems to be certain that they are run and run correctly. So, yes, an NT and a healthy dose of linebackers, that's on the menu for this draft.

Personally, I don't think Dorsey is a good fit for an NT, and that's waaaaaaay too much money to invest in an NT from a salary-cap perspective, so if we cannot trade down, I just don't see Dorsey in Miami.

Yes, we're gonna play the 3-4, but it'll be the first time in forever as none of these players we have now have played it while at Miami.

So Sparano would have him running windsprints to lose about 50 lbs to be able to play? He was listed at 335, but looked 385 after they had to put that oxygen mask on him after that int he ran back. The miami summer sun would probably take care of him after two a days for a month.

I fully agree. Rogers needs to lose ab out 30 lbs to be in shape. get down to 330, not the 360 what he's at now.

i miss timbo.. he was a man

Yes the seven toed "sherriff" was bad man. He lost three toes in a lawnmower accident as a kid, and had to wear a special shoe to play. He once told the Denver players if they cut any of his players when zone blocking, they would answer to him. He meant that, too. It's a shame he had back problems. He sometimes does a call in on fins radio network.

not necessarily 3-4 right away. We do need a big run stuffer at DT for 4-3 as well since neither Holliday nor Wright are very big, Traylor is probably gonna retire, and Saoli is still too raw to be a starting NT in the league.
