I understand that this year's oline was a band aid.

Mike Pouncey is a simply outstanding center. But he is like having a million dollars that you are not allowed to spend.

Not much point in having it, is there?

We need a running game, badly. We have the runner, but not the line. Without Pouncey, the run game fizzles.

Look, Buffalo has me worried. I think Gase and Moore aren't the problem. This is the second year that we've missed Pouncey.

I hate to spend yet another draft setting up the oline. We have too many needs on D. But Ajayi isn't the serious threat without a line.

Am I outta line here?

We need Pouncey healthy. He's a great player. Anyone who says he's not is in denial. We can't open a hole without him. Need him to get right for next year. In the meantime the less talented Urbick and Steen need to gut it out for us. They can do it.

Personally, I am torn on it. I think it's hard to count on him because he's made of glass, but, when he does play, the offense usually is as beautiful as stained glass ... I think we've seen that in his absence, while Albert and Tunsil have been back, just how valuable he is at least to the run game.

I don't think the Dolphins can afford to let him go. At the same time, as someone mentioned in another thread recently, I think the team needs to try to bring in a quality guard who can play center in the event Pouncey is out of the lineup.

No. I think there's a lot of us who realize that Pouncey's days here are numbered. We need someone who can stay healthy and be effective. Of course, this o-line also needs quality depth. Steen has been alright, but he is obviously a liability out there. Ideally, Steen would be fighting for roster spot as the [backup] and not starting for the half the season.

I'm probably a bit harsh on Pouncey, but this year has been hard to sit through with him missing so many games. We really need him healthy or find someone who is as effective.

Pat Elflein would be a nice replacement. Pouncey could try to keep playing and Elflein could work guard until the ineveitable. Sorta like we did with tunsil and albert.

Pouncey is great when healthy, however that's rare lately

I wanted him replaced during the off-season. Tannenbaum did very little to fix the o-line, yet everyone knew that it should have been his #1 priority. Albert and Pouncey are injury-prone, and no longer worth the money. The only reason Tunsil was drafted was because he just happened to fall to Miami. I honestly don't think that Tannenbaum was going to draft any o-linemen. Tunsil will eventually replace Albert, but Tannenbaum put too little emphasis on acquiring a competent Center. A BIG reason why Miami started 1-4 was because Thomas and Turner were not only still on the roster, but starting! Way to go, Tannenbum!

(BTW, I would never have drafted Pouncey in the first place. That said, the moment he wore that "Free Hernandez" hat I would have cut him.)

The whole logic per Gase to place Pouncey on IR now is to allow him to finally heal and get over the hip issue. We'll see how well that goes.

how many here would spend $10,000 for a 5 day vacation at one of the worlds best beaches when you knew it would rain and storm for 4 of those days, as opposed to spending say $8,000 for a 5 day beautiful weather vacation at a beach resort that was very nice, but not one of the best in the world?

be practical.

Saying Tannebaum did nothing to fix the online is rubbish.

Regardless that Tunsil fell too us, he was still drafted by Tannebaum, plus we bought in Urbik, developed Steen and picked up other free agents. Then too top it off, we released Turner and Thomas. That my friend, is addressing the o line.

I think it was Omar that said this will be the first time Pouncey will have a full off season to let the hip heal properly. He said something along the line that part of the problem has been rushing back too soon in the past. We shall see.

True, he addressed the o-line. But, releasing Thomas and Turner after losing a few games is not a plus... they should have never been on the roster when the season started. Competent replacements should have been found prior to beginning the season. Having those two on the roster and starting was an unforgivable sin, IMO.
